Is my laptop folding?

Post by TotalCareChiro »

My boss has decided that because our computers are always on to handle web requests that we should use FAH on the work cluster, so I've been put in charge of getting FAH up and running on these machines.

The first target is a Dell LATITUDE D610 Laptop. I installed the v7 build and got everything properly configured (I think) but I haven't seen any progress off of 00.00% and have no ETA on my current project (6897 - 976,2,86). Having looked through a couple of other forum posts, I have posted my logfile into the code box below.

That's all I have so far. I'm very open to help here because once I get everything set up on the office PCs I won't need much more input.

Thank you in advance,

I think your laptop's running fine. Wait a few minutes. The percentage usually waits until 1% or so before showing any changes.

Looks fine, but it is too early to tell using the console being that it just started. If you need quick info, you can look at the process tab of the Task Manager for the FAHCore_xx.exe processes to see if it is actually using some significant CPU time.

Yep, it's folding just fine. My TPF is 1 Hour 25 Minutes which explains why I didn't see any kind of significant progress on the bar until 11AM.

Thank you guys for your help. If anything goes wrong with the other installs I won't hesitate to come back for help!

FYI, if you set up an SMP slot, be sure to get a passkey from the F@h website. That way you can get bonus points in return for rapidly and reliably completing WUs.
F@h is now the top computing platform on the planet and nothing unites people like a dedicated fight against a common enemy. This virus affects all of us. Lets end it together.

No, SMP is not an issue on this one.

Code: Select all

14:51:41:  <!-- Folding Slots -->
14:51:41:  <slot id='0' type='UNIPROCESSOR'/>
However, the advice is still valid for this system, and the other systems that get any V7 client setup. A passkey will enable bonus points, even for a UNI slot client setup. ;)

TPF = Time Per Frame
Frame = 1%

And there are usually, if not always nowadays, 100 frames in a WU. WUs from a given project all have the same number of frames. You can find the number of frames that a project's WUs have by looking at the psummary page, linked to from the stats page on the F@h website.
