NVidia 8600 GTS performance

Hello,

one of the machines I have asssigned to folding uses a Celeron E1200 and a 8600 GTS.

I noticed yesterday the GTS wasn't doing anything and I remembered that this machine's power supply did not have a plug for the extra power needed by the VideoCard for the GPU.

So my question is: Would it be worth it to replace the power supply for an old card like the 8600 GTS. What kind of performance would it have in terms of PPD?

Thanks

You're better off spending the same $50 on a newer GPU, like the GT 430 Fermi. Comes in both a PCIe or PCI version, and does not need an extra power connector.

4500 PPD baseline, and can overclock higher if you want. ;)
