AMD announces the Shanghai, a 12-core processor

Really exciting! I hope it runs fast with all of those cores...

My main question is, would the SMP F@H client be able to handle all of these cores?

So its basically an intel chip, but with more cores, probably an integrated memory controller, and will do more work than anything intel currently offers, at the same time.

I'll buy one. :D

We've got projects scaling to 200 cores (8-core boxes connected with DDR infiniband) with a new version of Gromacs, so 12-cores should not be a problem once we have that new version in FAH -- we're looking forward to it!
