All,
Would like some help with configuration of the V7 Client with my team of servers I would like to put through their paces. They are all running Windows 2008 x64... I know Linux would be better at the task. I seem to have only been able to get an x86 version of the v7 Client to install as it installs to the x86 Program files area. So I have the following at my disposal for a few weeks;
2 of the following servers; (These register as only 20CPU's in the client)
4 x 10 Core Xeon e7-4870 2.4Ghz (40 Physical Cores, 80 Logical HT)
512GB Ram
1 of the following (This Registers as 32CPU's in the client)
2 x 10 Core Xeon e7-4870 2.4Ghz (40 Physical Cores, 80 Logical HT)
256Gb Ram
3 of the following (Registers as 24CPU's in the Client, which is right)
2 x Xeon x5680 3.33Ghz
64Gb Ram
So is anyone out there that can help me configure this to chew through the CPU's to give them a workout?
Thanks

Re: Getting the Most PPD out of my 40 Cores
Personally, I would set all of them up for SMP and bigadv.
Add an SMP client and max out the # of cores/threads (80,40,24). (32 is just the default high but not the max)
For each client add an extra arg:
client-type
bigadv
btw the following line isn't adding up for me:

Since he is saying he has 2 (systems/servers) he's doubling up on the cores and HT's.bollix47 wrote:btw the following line isn't adding up for me:

I wasn't referring to those systems.
This one:

Maybe a typo on his part.
