Active clients

Hi All,
My active clients on the Stanford results page reads 2, this should only be 1. I've only used 1smp client for at least six months. Can anyone let me know how/why this is. I only have the one client installed on my pc.
Team# 91717.
Thanks in advance,
erphy100.

PS. I use a passkey on my smp client.

Welcome to the forum erphy100.

It looks like you may have changed the MachineID on your client about a week ago. That makes it look to the server like you stopped using one client and started up a new one. Once you get past 50 days the Stanford stats page will go back to showing one client again.

Hi ChelseaOilman,
No I have not changed machine# . This all started about a month ago, when my active client changed from 1 to 2. Then after a week the 7 day (active client) dropped back to 1 client then after 24Hrs changed to 2 again, it,s been constantly reading 2 clients for 3 weeks now. No changes to any settings/configuration .
Cheers,
erphy100.

PS. I,ve just noticed the 7 day client# has dropped back to 1, lets see if it lasts, should have looked before I started this post.

erphy100, I think it's not really clear to us what you mean when you say: "This all started about a month ago, when my client changes from 1 to 2".

As ChelseaOilman explained, the stats behave that way if you added a new client, or if you changed the machineID ( identification, given to the client when configuring ). If you didn't add a client, and if you didn't change machineID, the stats shouldn't change ( active clients is only based on submissions from clients with different machineID's ).

So if you're saying you did neither of those things, the issue was caused by something server side. But, that's unlikely as it would not happen with just you but with every account, and in that case I would expect either more reports or a general notice on the boards. I do have to say the server code is undergoing changes including the stats servers so while unlikely to happen for just your account, it wouldn't be impossible that something caused this other then a change on your side.

Hi MtM,
I'll try to explain, I only fold with 1 smp client but the stats was showing 2 active clients. No changes made to configuring this end, I thought it could be someone using my screen name with a GPU client, as my smp client has a passkey & remembering its the only client I use.
I do not have a gpu client installed on my pc. I also edited my reply to Chelseaoilman above. Everytime I try to write a half understandable post I get a visitor, or the damn phone rings.
Thanks,
erphy100.

The mods can check if you made submissions with a gpu client, it might be as you say: someone else folding on your account.

Sure looks like something changed on your end but I don't know all the inner workings of how PG does things so anything is possible.

CPUid Last credit Last returned WU Proj Run Clone Gen
C9xxxxxxxxxxxxxx 3362.66 2011-07-07 21:07:03 7501 0 113 45
C7xxxxxxxxxxxxxx 3293.89 2011-07-15 07:09:17 6078 0 24 2

CPUId = UserID+MachineID

Hi MtM,
Please can the mods check to see, as I'm sure it can't be me. How could this be me if I do not have a GPU client installed. I uninstalled my GPU client about 6 months ago, it was far to noisy.
Many Thanks for your help,
erphy100.

ChelseaOilman didn't say it was a gpu folding.

The lines he posted indicate your account has had two recent submissions with two different configurations:

3362.66 credit on 7-7-2011 21:07:03 Prcg 7501 0 113 45
3293.89 credit on 15-7-2011 07:09:17 Prcg 6078 0 24 2

Both work units are of the SMP type. But, the CPUid of the submissions differ, which is why you see two active clients on the stats page, you made submission with two clients ( or the same client, but something still changed which caused it to be submitted using a different unique identifier ).

Now, I don't know why, but if your next submissions are all from the same cpuID I would accept it as 'unexplained fluke'. If they keep changing, something strange is going on.

Hi MtM,
I think I can see what you mean but what I don't understand is how this can happen as theres been no configuring since I first installed my smp. It took me a couple of go's to install, that was a good while ago & it has not been touched since.

What 3rd party programs are you running in addition to FAH, itself? Some 3rd party programs may "help" you out by changing your configuration.

Well, then I can't explain7 it. As has already been reported, somewhat after July 7 the MachineID was adjusted or there were two clients run on that copy of Windows. (The MachineID was reduced by two.) Work continues to be submitted from the lower value.

Hi bruce,
My machine ID has always been #2, so if its reduced by 2 it would then be 0 surely this would not be excepted.
