Cash Prizes = Good or bad?

Do you think that the cash prizes that organizations use to promote Folding@Home (for participation) are effective, ineffective, good, bad, or other?

Personally I think we are able to use cash prizes much like the X-Prize, and other cash prizes which utilize the good of the community in search of a cash prize. :D
