Project: 6501 (Run 8, Clone 7, Gen 62) Bad WU?

This unit immediately EUE'd with a Gromacs error (Client-core communications error: ERROR 0x79). The unit was not deleted. I also noted that the download was unusually small for a 6501 (~146k vs the normal ~750k).

The unit was not deleted in the portion of the log that you posted, but neither was it uploaded. If you look at the next portion of the log, I'm sure you'll see that it WAS deleted (if I'm wrong, please show the time-stamp showing the "Thank you..." message which would have happened when you restarted after [04:14:56].)
There's no record of anybody uploading that WU yet, either as an error or for full credit.

Bruce,
That is all there is to the log. After the message appeared, I got a dialog box informing me that the client was quitting. When I clicked ok, the the client exited back to the command line prompt. When I re-started the unit, it tried to run the same WU again (no download), and EUE'd the same way. The only way I was able to get a new unit was to delete the queue. This is similar to the behavior that I reported in viewtopic.php?f=19&t=18704.

This is one of the issues with the V6 client which is supposed to be fixed in V7 sooner or later. What I'd like to see happen is for somebody to report that they got the same WU in V7 and post their log, but that's not likely to happen. Until something like that happens, we won't know if V7 fixed the problem.
In the meantime, nothing has changed in V6. Some WUs are bad. Some computers are unstable. We try to sort them out, but we don't have enough information to be able to do that as well as we'd like to.

I just got assigned this WU, and have the same issue as the OP. Looks like a bad WU.

I had to change my machine id and 'fool' the server to get a different work unit when I had one.
