Projects 10062 - 10082

Post by John_Weatherman »

I'm a bit bewildered by these single core WUs which have a prefered deadline of only 4 days. No bonus for quick return and a normal PPD, would make me think that there's a few miffed folders and lots of re-issued WUs out there. They take longer to do then a standard SMP WU and get far less points, and on a single core machine it's a pain (leaving machines on 24/7 nearly) to get them back on time. It seems that it only is with the "small" option of WUs for the client that they can be avoided. Perhaps they should have been on adv only.

Anyone else have any comments?

I haven't managed to receive one of these yet. Still getting a lot of 1072*'s and 6***'s.

With the new A4s and the variety of gpu work units (small ones benefiting your ~4/530's and large ones your ~4/580's), there is probably scope for a reorganisation of small medium and large WU options...

For 240 points I would imagine my core2duo would have to be running for 24 of the 94 hours. I imagine even a p4 would take only 2 days days of folding time to complete the work unit.

I've a 2ghz C2D laptop doing these now, and they take about 29 hours of folding time, according to FAHMon. As it's on about 8, 9 hours a day, you can see my point.
