No, I don't have 2 clients running. This is an older desktop unit, and only has ever had the one client on it.

How did you install it? Was it from a clone of another HD? Did you copy a folder from another install? The server is reissuing WU's to this client that it has already issued to another. I've counted three reissued WU's on that one log. That requires two clients with identical client.cfg files.

Regardless, the solution is to stop the client; delete the client.cfg file; delete the work folder; delete the queue.dat file. Then restart the client and reconfigure making sure that you choose a different MachineID.

Since your name is MJandDave2 I'm wondering if you have two Windows user names and you're switching users while folding. Your launch directory implies that "martha" is folding when she's logged on. Does "dave" log on and fold, too? If so, you might find two different copies of FAHlog.txt, one in C:\Documents and Settings\martha\Application Data\Folding@home-x86 and another in C:\Documents and Settings\dave\Application Data\Folding@home-x86

According to the official stats, there have been donations from MJandDave, MJandDave2, and MJandDave3. Have you used all three names?

There are 3 recent clients associated with MJandDave, (two CPU clients and and one SMP client), one client associated with MJandDave3 (one CPU client) and zero recent clients associated with MJandDave2. Does that make sense?

I installed it several months ago, from a direct download from the internet. I didn't copy a folder from another install, or make a clone -- I wouldn't know how to do that.

The 2 in MJandDave2 refers to the fact that this is my 2nd home machine. I first installed it in newer laptop computer, then my older desktop. There are two windows user names on the desktop, but only one user name is ever used.

These are 3 different machines:

MJandDave is a laptop, that I have been mostly running SMPs on lately. I was recently unable to run it 24/7 for a week or so, so switched back to two CPU clients, and now am back to SMPs.

MJandDave2 is a desktop that only runs a single classic client. It is the one I am inquiring about now. I've been kind of in set-it-and-forget it mode with this machine, without examining the log files and point accrual closely. What should I do to get it back on track? Can you check to see if the projects I've downloaded recently have truly been completed by someone else, or are they still waiting in my queue?

MJandDave3 is my sister's machine, several hundred miles away.

There are no recent WUs that have been returned from MJandDave2 so your query does need attention.

The log that you posted above begins on [November 29 07:17:31 UTC] and starts with a comment about an incompletely fetched WU in queue position #9 so there must be an earlier log called FAHlog-Prev.txt which ended with a failed attempt to download. Please search FAHlog-Prev.txt for the words "Thank you" to see if anything uploaded successfully. Otherwise there must be a number of errors in it.

I'm going to summarize what I see in the new FAHlog.txt for anyone else reading this topic. My hunch is that we'll see the same sort of thing happening in FAHlog-Prev.txt if you post it.

You successfully download Project: 10425 (Run 855, Clone 0, Gen 2) and attempt to upload Project: 10424 (Run 1228, Clone 0, Gen 1) which apparently was just completed. The upload fails with the message "Server has already received unit." and I'm still trying to find out what that means. I've never seen it before and I don't see that you've gotten credit for it.

Processing of Project: 10425 (Run 855, Clone 0, Gen 2) proceeds normally and the upload also receives the message "Server has already received unit."

Likewise for Project: 10200 (Run 0, Clone 9593, Gen 6) and Project: 6885 (Run 550, Clone 4, Gen 1)
are downloaded, processed normally, and receive the message "Server has already received unit."

Project: 6880 (Run 707, Clone 7, Gen 3) is currently being processed.

You can find out the status of WUs that are still waiting to upload using the -queueinfo flag, but I don't expect it to tell us much. There's a 3rd party utility called "qd" which will also tell us about WUs which have been uploaded or deleted. It must be run from the command prompt in the directory containing FAHlog and the other files associated with this client. Would you like more detailed instructions, or is that enough?

Can Bruce or one of the Mods see who has returned these units?
Have you checked what is running in Task Manager? If the clients is set up as a service, it's easy to mess things up and get it running in the temp folder when you reboot (says he from experience!)

I don't see any pattern. The WUs have been returned by various people. Unfortunately I don't have any information about when a WU is reissued because of an expired deadline or some unreported EUE and that's the only way I know to get more than one creditable WU in process.

But if it was either of those, he'd still get credit for the WU and he wouldn't get the error message. Those events occur randomly throughout the entire membership and he got 3 in a row (extremely unlikely. So, do we have a new bug?

I found a similar thread about GPU work server problems back in Feb 2010 causing the same error message, and the same symptom where the WU gets sent back, but no credit given. It's a known problem, in a specific Work Server version of software, no info on what triggers it, or how it was fixed. But the old thread said PG thought they had it fixed.

I would expect the same outcome. Sorry.

There was also a thread last week that mentioned the same problem in it. This could be a bug that shows itself on occasion. viewtopic.php?f=47&t=16958&p=168493&hilit=Server+has+already+received+unit#p168493
