I have been running Folding@Home for a few years on my machine and today I started reciveing the error "Folding@home has run into a serious error running the core, and will shut down". This continue to happen even after a reinstall of the program. Here is my FAHlog.txt:

Why is this happening and how do I fix it?

This is not your machine causing problems but the core 78 and these workunits. Others are reporting the same problem. You can try deleting work folder, the queue file and change machine id but you might well end up with the same work.

The WUs downloaded during a certain timespan yesterday seem to be 'sort of' bad and crashing the 78 core. If you do as John_Weatherman said, you should be given a new WU and be able to continue folding. If you don't change the Machine ID, the chance of getting the exact same WU again is high, but from the reports I saw yesterday evening, those who did restart (by first redownloading the same WU from the Work Server) were able to fold the WU that was previously crashing.

Thanks, deleting the files worked looks to have worked. Did not have to change machine ID

Somethings is amiss. That WU is a core 15 wu, not a 78, have you updated lately? The reason I'm asking is because i'm looking at core version 2.09 on mine 11261 which is a gpu3. SO what is still using a 4 year old core?

Correct, fahcore_78 hasn't been updated in a while. Not a problem. (getting replaced by new cores in testing now)
P11271 is a Gromacs work unit, not a Core_15, so not a problem. (P11266 - P11289 are all Gromacs WUs)

Back to what John and FB said. Probably a bad WU. A mod could check that WU for you if you asked nice...
