Don't give up so easily, things are expected to change a lot in 2011

How fast are the cryptographic computers that countries use to spy on encrypted communications?
Well, first they would have to acknowledge they exist before allowing them to be tested.
If you let somebody know how quickly you can crack their code, it kind of defeats the purpose of cracking it.

Lightpeak is a natural extension of things that we're already doing, not some fantastic new technology. It's an important step forward, but not a giant step.
Data centers replaced their network cables with fiber optics ten years ago, so that's hardly new. USB has been running multiple protocols for some time now. Combine those two technologies and come up with a consumer oriented manufacturing process that makes it affordable enough to use over short distances and you have Lightpeak.
