I had a weird error with the ProtoMol core.

Not the same as last time. Same as the one as in this topic.

I'm running the CPU client 6.23 on WinXp, P4, 2GB ram. So I can't run the SMP client on this computer. It's like the reverse of the problem in the topic. I think it's just a glitch, but didn't notice until now that the lifeline number changes each time the client is started not sure what that means.

What sort of trickery are you performing? Yes, the lifeline changes but it is an internal pointer that has always worked for everyone else.

Trickery? Only thing I did was turn off my NIS 2004, start F@H, and then turn it on when the WU is running. I have to sometimes to get a new WU to download or it gets stuck in the attempt to download the next WU. I would upgrade my NIS but I like Ad-Blocker.

The lifeline thing I was just curious about because I never bothered to look at it until this error happened. The WU didn't get trashed or anything I'm still working on it. It's at 42% right now.

I would imagine it's the previous closedown that caused the problem. I've had it too when doing a quick reboot. If you add the verbosity 9 flag it will help with any problems in the future.

Just letting you know, Project: 10046 (Run 152, Clone 0, Gen 26) isn't a bad WU as someone else has completed it and returned it for full credit.

The lifeline error means that the core noticed that the client process disappeared. This is normal behavior for the core if the client shutsdown or is killed.

The client passes its process ID to the core. The core watches for this process ID in the system. If it goes away then it knows the client has exited.

Which flag are you referring to? The FAH client does not accept the -lifeline flag and running a core without running the client is not supported.

I just told him to add the verbosity 9 flag in case he gets problems in the future, that's all.

Yeah, I'm still new to flags. I've only been running the -advmethods one and now the -verbosity 9 as well. Any others that I should use or try for the CPU client?

IMO you don't need to set up any other flags. -verbosity 9 writes only more information in the FAH-Log.

Yeah that's what I thought. I looked into other flags and they seem to only be needed in some certain situations.

I just want to be able to do all and any projects that I can get and let my comp stay busy. That's why I use -advmethods and -verbosity 9. I don't see how more info can hurt and I read in another topic toTOW saying he prefers to have the extra info in case anything requires it which I can't say I disagree with.
