I was going through my logs today and noticed a strange pattern of behavior on the rig that runs -smp and uses server 171.64.65.56 It appears that every other WU that downloads from this server is some how getting corrupted. If you look at the log below every other WU errors out at start up with core status =FF (255) then the next downloaded WU runs perfectly to completion. I looked back and this has been going on for a while. Is anybody seeing this behavior ? and could this be contributing to the heavy loads on the server.

With regard to the specific WU: Project: 6702 (Run 13, Clone 85, Gen 26) has not been returned by anyone.

Two observations:
1) Either your observed pattern applies to (A) everyone, or (B) to only those with some particular configuration or (C) only to you. Figuring out which is true would be a first step.
2) I don't have a clue how to figure out some type of cause that would create such a pattern.

The number of connections seems to be gradually increasing since then but it's not certain whether this is in anticipation of the problem reoccurring or if the server is handling the backlog and will continue to.

Assume nothing with respect to this server.

It is still experiencing very serious problems. Net load is back in the 200 range and I have several WUs queued and each one that completes experiences the same problem (large personal farm here, as you know, Bruce).503-503-503-503..........

It is also taking forever for the AS to stop assigning one of these machines back to the subject server. One has been trying to get work for over an hour.

Please contact whomever is in charge and alert them to this asap. (Who is in charge?) I do not know about others, but I have 6-8 more WUs assigned to this server that are due to complete within the next several hours. I assume that many others are in the same position.

If you know the cause of the high net load, please drop me a pm, old friend.(by tenure, not age)

Same, can't upload after hours of trying. The problem is that the uplaod is happening but so slowly. Literally 11 hours of upload with no work being done. Transfer rates are absolutely pitiful.

Don't know your normal upload speed but I have a very fast ISP and mine take only three or so minutes and I have not had a similar problem with the 8 that went up this morning (Thursday 8/19) PRIOR to the net load hitting its present level.
Try going to one of the "speed sites" and see if your ISP is to blame (been there, done that).

Is anyone doing anything about this problem as I stated above?
We now know that it is a recurring issue.

I am willing to run almost any Linux SMP WU at this stage.

it is down completely. one client hasn't sent finished and another one cannot send finished unit and does not receive anything

Same problem here, it is hit and miss trying to upload and download with this Server. I switched the farm off except for one comp with the Server problems, to help lighten the load and watch the outcome.

Pande Group staff is looking into these issues and working on some help for a probably overloaded server. Hopefully, you will see some relief soon.

We've brought some projects online on a different SMP server. Essentially the problem is that some of the servers are low on jobs and another server has been up and down for RAID maintenance, so this one got overloaded. The server's been up throughout--the transaction threads just get full. We're working on some additional load-balancing.

The Net Load on this one is ~200 once again. (DL is fine)

Yes, this is one I tend to follow more closely.

We just restarted the server code; hopefully that will help with any "stuck" transfers.

(I think I may follow your comment, but that would be quite a coincidence. Will await clarification.)
