I see it all over the forums, does it mean points per day? Is there an easy way to calculate it accuratly?

Thanks.

Points per day :)

add: The easiest way to calculate it is to use a third party monitor software such as HFM.net or FAHmon...

As to accurate calculation, install a monitoring client such as HFM.net. They all do the calculations much faster than you could by hand.

PPD stand for Points per day. It can be calculated manually using frame times but it is almost always done via a 3rd party monitoring program like HFM.net. Especially since Bonus points can be a real pain to calculate manually.

Yes, points per day.
Yes, if you're good at math. Otherwise install a client monitoring tool like HFM and let it do the math.

PPD = Total WU points * 14.4 / time per frame (in decimal minutes) <---short form

PPD = Total WU Points * 60 min * 24 Hr / TPF (in minutes (decimal)) * 100 <--- long form

PPD = Points * 1440 / Total time to complete the WU

Thanks all, im using HFM.net now and it is awesome.

Sad though that im only getting 1800 ppd (using a gts250) :( Oh well :/

1800 PPD with a GTS250??? You should be getting way more than that, more like 4000-5000 (someone correct me if I'm off). How did you configure the client? What else is running? What project is the client working on?

You might want to leave your computer alone for 10-15 minutes with nothing running, and then check the PPD.

i have nothign on, and its still teh same, correct me if im wrong but calculating with the MHz as teh shader clock setting correct? Mine is 1910 MHz.

The project is P6601 (R4, C949, G183)

Are you looking at the PPD/MHz calculation? While interesting to some, it's not the PPD figure that most people care about, nor is it the one I'm referencing.

Using HFM > click on "Edit" > "Preferences" >

Under the "Options" tab, upper section, make sure to select "Calculate Bonus Credit and PPD"

That project has no bonus. I'm guessing the GTS250 is downclocking, or is not the GTS250 we know of. A program called GPU-z will be able to tell if the card is downclocking. Fixing the problem might entail a change of drivers or it could be as simple as setting power management to performance mode (there are two control panels for this: Power Options, and Nvidia's proprietary panel).

Son of a..... i opened vtune and i put the 2d clock at teh lowest and the 3d clock at the highest (guessing that it would improve the performance of my games), but when i did that the 3d core took all of the 2d MHz, slowing my game and f@h performance?

I figured this out by accident, i get the 2d cores on max to see if that was teh problem, my comp crashed, and reset my cores to teh factory setting. Before my temps would be 50C ish with fan at 44% now its 69C and 78% fans. Thanks!!! Now i get better gameing quality :D im rly happy now.

Also, if i just uninstalled all this crap (extra gpu stuff, drivers etc) would the gpu just assume to work at 100%? If so im just going to take them off, they are annoying....

thanks again i can barly type correctly XD

edit: my ppd is 4200 now :D

i20234: I am not sure but for me, I simply have only one software for my GPU and that is Afterburner which allows me to Overclock the GPU and control its performance. I also have the 197.45 Drivers installed. Those are the only two softwares that I have which interact with the GPU. I also have GPU-Z which I use to monitor Memory usage and GPU load. Other then that, not extra stuff. You may go through my Guide (link in sig) and see if any information is helpful for you to increase your F@H production. Note that OC the Shaders will, in most cases, give your PPD a boost rather then increasing the Core and Memory frequencies.

My temps are at a comfortable 70C so i dont want to increase that anymore, thanks for the gpu monitoring program suggestion, it's nice. and i have a a palit gts 1250, it came with vtune and thats what underclocked teh cores bc it was in safe mode...but now its fixed its funning a lil more than twice what it used to and before all my games worked fine with no aa high res :D

thanks all for teh help, i appreciate it.
