I have a Core2 Extreme QX9650, Quad Core 3 GHz, which is water cooled and slightly over clocked, I also have in this machine a Nvidia GTS 250 with 1 GB of DDR3, which high performance client should be used in terms of performance, or can both clients be ran in parallel?

Assuming windows OS you can use both, the gpu should be good for 5-6000 ppd, you could also run the SMP client for similar ppd, however due to the bonus return system unless your cpu is running dedicated and often the smp might not be ideal. Also using both will use all the resources of your system. The easiest start is the gpu only and see how you go, you may decide that running the gpu with classic clients instead depending on your other system commitments.

Thank You very much, this system doesn't get the throttle punched very often since I don't do much gaming anymore, if performance is too degraded can simply pause the appropriate client..

If that was a question, then yes, you can always pause/close the clients if they're interfering too much with other tasks.

Many people set up a configuration that donates whatever they can without a noticeable impact on their "normal" use of the computer. Presuming that they do game occasionally, they generally pause/close whatever is necessary to get the desired gaming performance . . . but then sometimes forget to turn FAH back on.

I now have both the SMP and GPU clients running, can't say I've done much so far, but hopping around the internet so far, can't see I see a major impact so far, will see how this machine handles it all...sure is warming up in this room!

When the computer is busy, it does produce more waste heat. In the winter that may be a benefit but probably not in the summer (depending on the climate where you live). That, too, can be tweaked if you find it necessary.

As kiore said, it's better to start slow. We can help you work your way toward the proper combination that is best for you, individually.
