Artist needed

Can someone take this image, and draw a nice ghostbusters-style circle and slash on it, and correct the transparency layer to match? This will be for the "client is paused, client has problems, etc" state of the windows and OS X clients.

There is a good deal of red already in the image, so you hay have to be creative (like not using more red), and keep in mind that this will be shrunk all the way to 16x16 in some cases, and the pause-iness still needs to be clear. (testing it in a Vista-aware icon file editor isn't a bad idea)

If no one out there can do it, I'll have to do it, and nobody wants that!

My art skills are atrocious, so no help here, sorry :|

A different idea: How about using a grey scale version of the image to indicate a client that's not crunching and the one with colors to represent a functional one? Just my 2 cents

Hrm, that's a good idea. Greyscale with and X in the corner or the circle or something in color would really stand out.

I agree. Putting a red circle/slash over the gray icon would stand out nicely.

Only and hour and already so many good ideas!

That one would be good for "help!", not so good for "paused", but I need one of those too I now realize.

Icon 1 - Everything OK (that's the normal icon)
Icon 2 - Paused.
Icon 3 - Broken/alert.

For paused maybe just going greyscale makes some sense, but interface stuff tends to be cultural...

Figure out what you want, then let us know. Doesn't seem like there is any lack of input. Here is something I whipped up. 16x16 and 128x128 ;)

Is this going to replace the red "cog" in the icon tray? If so, Uncle Fungus's model illustrates an issue that the image is so small that the detail which looks lovely in large scale gets totally lost. If you did the exclamation point for paused and the circle/slash for broken, how easy would it be to differentiate the two different icons. On the other hand, maybe it's sufficient that the user can see there's something other than the ordinary going on.

Edit: if for tray use: I took a look at the other items in my tray and the non-working ones just have a red "x", so maybe that should be used for consistency? It's also visually simpler on such a small scale.

Another attention getter is to flash the icon (annoying but effective). Another is to cycle between two images, such as a color molecule and then a greyscale molecule.
