Best free anti-virus software compatible with FAH? [any]

OK, so I've used AVG free edition for a while on this PC without troubles until the last week or so. Even with my FAH directories in the exception list, it still keeps running away with the avgnsx.exe process taking up a ton of CPU resources and blocking FAH from being able to upload work after it's done. Obviously this is not good, but neither is running Windows XP without AV. So what are the choices for free AV software that is known to be reliable with FAH?

Pretty much any modern antivirus will be compatible with FAH. Those which integrate a firewall present slightly more of a challenge if they are blocking internet access surreptitiously. The thing to remember is to add FAH to the AV exceptions list and everything should *just work*.

The only AV package which we regularly have complaints about on this forum is AVAST, which classes checkpoint data files as viruses with some regularity. Be assured however that these are false positives.

It has also been reported than NOD32 can also cause FILE_IO_ERRORs in certain situations.
