Your machine will do most of the clients.
For cpu, you might want to consider the SMP client. The new client will be out shortly(hopefully) and make installation a little easier.
SMP Install Vista/W7:
http://fahwiki.net/index.php/How_do_I_i ... s_Vista%3F
Right now it looks like you are running the single classic client. Once it is finished, you can try the SMP client.
Your video card(s) can also fold, using the GPU2 client, which is slated to change one day also.
GPU2 ATI Install :

Check them out. If you have any question come on back.
Teams - You can have your own or join one of the many. Check out EOC :
http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/team_list.php?s=
This will give you an idea of points also.

Hello Massimo, welcome to the Folding Forum.
User name is whatever you want. Team # is 0, unless you want to join an existing team, or maybe create your own.
There is a passkey FAQ on the project web site.
http://folding.stanford.edu/English/FAQ-passkey
You get points when you return a completed work unit. To use all 4 cores, you may want to run the SMP client, instead of the CPU client, which you seem to have installed already.

Welcome to the Forum Massimo
If you install SMP2 and use the -advmethods then you can use the a3 cores which allows the Bonus Point system. To qualify for the bonus point system, you need a passkey plus you need to finish and upload 10 a3 WUs, and also you should have an 80% return rate for your WUs.
If you plan to fold on ATI GPUs, you may want to use the Environment Variables to get a better efficiency out of them. Nvidia GPUs are best for F@H but hopefully, with GPU3 Client, things will be fairly even for both vendors.
You mentioned SSD so is it MLC or SLC? I recommend that you setup the clients to use the HDD as the constant read/write can be tough for SSD depending on the cache memory, the controller it uses, etc.
I would also recommend that you install
HFM.net to monitor F@H Clients espically with SMP2 so that you can get the bonus points calculated.

OK so the GPU one seems to be working away, not sure if its set-up right but its going, what i dont get is why its sooo confusing to install the smp one, tryed following the steps required and i dont think its working at all its all very confusing. is there not a standard install file or something?

There's nothing wrong with starting with something you understand and moving slowly into new territory. When you asked for the "best setup for F@H for my computer" you got a variety of answers most of which increased the complexity of your installation.
Because the SMP client is in transition and the installation is complex, it's probably something you should postpone, even though it fits your use of the word "best".
Apparently you're successfully running the classic CPU client plus the GPU client. Don't feel bad if you stop there and get your bearings before proceeding.
Nobody asked if your machine runs 24x7 yet, and that might have an important bearing on what's "best" for you.

Yes my computer is on all day all night, yea i have the gpu running altho it runs fine but if i leave the display window open and leave the computer for about 2min it starts to go super slow, then i click the thingy that spins and it goes back to fast again?? dont know why.

The smp setup is complex currently, it is still beta and a bit of a mishmash at present, hopefully this will change soon. Next problem you will have if you are using an SMp and an ATI card is you will need to tweak your environmental variables..
What you have currently is a good start and you could install several (up to 4) uniprocessor clients, these alongside your gpu would do good science and wouldn't interfere with your other uses. Diving in and committing all your resources immediately is very commendable, but maybe rolling out your commitment and learning at the same time how to install and run your F@H clients would be more useful longterm. Part of your donation to the project in fact because if you learn how and become confident with it you are able to share this with others.
Re setting your team number, set to default or zero or join an established team for some support and perhaps competition, maybe you'll want to start your own team once you get confident.
Welcome to folding.

Welcome to the forums,
A couple of things can be causing this.
1. Switch off your screen saver, just set it to switch the monitor off instead.
2. go into control panel>power schemes - make sure it is set to always on.
3. Don't use the viewer to view the protein you are currently working on - it isn't very good and can crash your PC
PS. there is nothing poor about your PC spec -its a good un and once you are comfortable with all the different clients will give you serious points
Also waiting on an X6 but not for £300

Maybe for a new PSU as well? I agree with Nathan, you have a very capable system, many people folding with significantly less, still it is fun to have new hardware
We have no idea how well the new hexacore will fold, but probably pretty good for SMPs.

ok i closed the viewer, how do i check its working properly now? lol sorry if i sound soo n00b but this really is new to me and after reading the website i came to the conclusion that im going to do this no matter what it makes use of something i only use 1/4 of the day.
Power setting i already changed as i thought that may have been it - no screensaver set.
ATI Overdrive is telling my that temp is 35c with fans at 40% activity is 0% this dosnt sound right if im useing the GPU version, and task manager tells me 0% - 10% used always changing tho but mainly 0% and 1.5gb mem used
I have a feeling tis is not right, the way i work it there should be activity on my graphocs card? or am i missing something silly?
also i have £300 away for it i hell aint paying £300 tho, i think i will be bout £150 -/+ £25 maybe even £200MAX - Frys in US already taking pre orders for it at $299 and apparently there be in stock 2moz for them lucky B's
