I would like to request that the folding servers IP addresses be grouped into a single IP range so that a single QOS rule can be applied to just that range rather than a whole bunch of ranges.

I find that when folding sends a WU it uses all the bandwidth avail. When that happens, all other internet traffic comes to a standstill till folding has finished transmitting. To fix that problem, I have implemented QOS with folding having a low priority so that all other traffic has a chance to get through.

However, looking at the server list, there are a lot of IP addresses. I can group them together but I still end up with 10 separate groups. I don't really want to allocated all my QOS entries to just folding and the same rules can apply to them all. So could Stanford please group them all into a single IP address group?

That's not likely to happen. The servers that are at Stanford are on separate intra-Stanford networks for redundancy (occasionally one Stanford subnetwork will be temporarily unavailable), and these are sometimes on different IP blocks. The bigger complication is that we have collaborating labs (at, for example, UC San Francisco, Notre Dame, and UVA) who also run work servers. There's no way to put those on the same IP block, since they're physically located elsewhere.

Is it possible to have IP address forwarding being done so that even if the addresses are far away, they still look like they are grouped together?

No, it would mess with the security settings for verifying that work units come and go from the correct locations.

Setup your own NAT table and run all the IPs through one local IP.

VPN then? I would actually really welcome using one ip range aswell.

The client connects to the Assignment Server which assigns the client to a specific IP address for the download of a new WU. When the WU is completed, it is returned to the same IP address or if that fails, to the IP address of a secondary Collection Server. Even if FAH's management accepted your request, they'd have to drain each server (set it to give no more assignments, then wait for all outstanding WUs to be returned or to expire) before installing it as a new server on some other IP address.

What is XX in this sentence: "It would bring XX% more donors to FAH" ? How would it improve the scientific results?
