After starting a team = 51078 I'm beginning to wonder why I bother, having lost heaven knows how many points through server problems a couple of weeks ago it's getting to be one problem after another.
What happened to not having to baby sit F@H ?

This seems to possibly be your side issue. The client can't send a http out.
Have you recently updated your firewall, or network settings?

That server is "not accepting" at the moment. And I agree, it's a pain. The servers are unacceptably unreliable and this seems to me to be unnecessary. It is utterly normal in commercial environments to have server uptimes measured in years.

Nope, I've even tried unsuccessfully running without the firewall.

Hi patonb
I'm not sure I know what you mean sori. it's not now happening with all WUs just the odd one. What freaks me out I'd got stacks queued a couple of weeks ago, I then did think the problem was my end & went for a full re-install & obviously therefore lost the lot.
Thanx for the reply

TBH It's beginning to seem to me like someone just isn't taking ownership for these ongoing problems

Yes it seems to be an ongoing problem. The last four or five months have been truly horrible for smp folding. I can understand if they ran out of units but seeing them fail to transmit is irritating. It wouldn't be so bad if it didn't grind all other Internet activity to a halt.

Just curious but what is happening that is grinding your Internet activity to a halt. What kind of connection do you have?

Road Runner cable. According to speedtest.net upload speed is .30mbps which I'm sure is poor. Since ~Nov 09 I usually have one to three finished work units rechecking the work server at any given time.

That behavior has always been a problem with folding. I can remember asking for a BW limiter feature added to the uniprocessor client when there was only just the uniprocessor client. The discussion at the time indicated that slowing things down couldn't be done for fear that the number of open sessions would overwhelm the databases. When folding gets or sends data to and from the servers it uses as much of the BW it can and that has nothing to do with the type of connection or the provider. The normal solution, if it is an actual problem (like for real time gaming) for an individual has been to install with QOS either via router or software.

Is this discussion still on topic? I don't understand how several of the recent questions can be classified as "Really un-professional"
How about starting a new topic when you have an issue that you'd like help with?
