Parameters

Is there a list of all parameters and their explination? Also for ATI EV? I'm trying to find ways of making my Radeon run more stable and efficient, and also to find if there is any way to speed up both the GPU and CPU. I have been looking and looking, and have found mhouston's explination, but every now and then, I come across cryptic (to me) references to other paramters and EVs.

Thanks in advance for helping this newbie out.

I guess this article is a good place to start : http://en.fah-addict.net/articles/artic ... iables.php (it also include the EV details provided by mhouston).

Once you've read everything, you might use the suggested values and see if it helps ...

What client are you running on your CPU ?

PS : both your CPU and GPU are quite weak, so don't expect miracles from them ...

Thank you. I understand this explination for the GPU you linked better than mhouston's. I tire of the mdrun errors (is this the VPU recovers alluded in the CalNoFlush?).

As to the CPU, the logfile lists FahCore_78.exe and Gromacs core 1.90.

I understand that this is not a very strong system, as noted that my total points gained so far (CPU since 4/09, GPU since 10/09, team 163828) is barely half of you daily gain. Thus, if I may pick your mind for my possible upgrade? I am partial to AMD and ATI. The processor I am looking at is a Phenom II (905e, 925 or 945), DDR-3 RAM (triple channel if possible), an HD 5850, and at least two PCI 2.0 x16 slots on the motherboard. This system is primarily to be an entertainment center, hooked up to a monitor and a wide screen so as to watch streaming movies, use a BlueRay drive, radio, surf, research, etc. The question more centers on this: to allow the video card to also run as it is intended for video, etc, while the folding GPU is active, is it better to have two 5850 cards linked or a 5850 and a FirePro/CrossFire Pro linked (on my current system, I have to pause the GPU when doing anything else such as surfing or watching Netflix online, else mdrun errors; the CPU runs 24/7). I know the FirePro is much more expensive than the 5850, but my thinking is that it should be much, much faster than a second 5850 and allow the folding GPU to run on it while the 5850 processes a movie. Is my thinking correct, or is the single 5850 strong enough to do both without problem? As you can tell, this will be a (relatively) low wattage system and economy where I can without sacrificing too much in the way of efficiency.

Again, thank you for your time.
