Hey I just started rerunning since I realized that recently I've been leaving my computer on. Anyway my questions is; why do the exe. files have exporation dates. Why does the core change?

Beta versions of the .exe expire. Released versions are permanent.

FAH consists of two parts, a client which provides an interface between you, your computer, and the web plus any one of a number of cores which do the scientific work. The client downloads a Work Unit and whatever core is needed to process it and then uploads the results when the core finishes.

If the science code is improved, the client can download a new version without you doing anything. Every year or two some of the interfaces are improved but you only get those improvements if you choose to install a new client.

Beta client have expiration date to force you to upgrade it when it's necessary (stable version or update available) since it's not automatic.
