I've been getting this message on several Windows classic folding clients for about an hour now. I've tried every known flag and setting but just the same message every time.
Thanks,
Pete

Partial Stanford Network Outage. Fah home page and Fah News page was offline for a while.
They know, IT working on it.
EDIT: Up again?

Tried restarting two clients - no joy.
I've been able to reach assign.stanford.edu all day, but it looks like it may have lost contact with most/all of the work servers.
~EDIT~
GPU doesn't seem to be affected - still getting work for those here.

Same here. Currently most of my clients still have a WU to work on, but my Linux SMP gets only mesages like:
Code: Select all
[00:29:58] + Attempting to get work packet
[00:29:58] - Connecting to assignment server
[00:29:58] + No appropriate work server was available; will try again in a bit.
[00:29:58] + Couldn't get work instructions.
[00:29:58] - Attempt #6 to get work failed, and no other work to do.
Waiting before retry.
Restart doesn't help (as expected from the above messages).
My GPU (Nvidia 9800GT) is working fine. Because of the short calculationtimes for most WU's on this card, that makes me assume the server(s) for this client is/are not affected.

The same here. Been waiting for new WU for 3 1/2 hrs now, for Win XP SMP.
Code: Select all
00:40:58] + Attempting to get work packet
[00:40:58] - Will indicate memory of 3071 MB
[00:40:58] - Connecting to assignment server
[00:40:58] Connecting to http://assign.stanford.edu:8080/
[00:40:59] Posted data.
[00:40:59] Initial: 0000; + No appropriate work server was available; will try again in a bit.
[00:40:59] + Couldn't get work instructions.
[00:40:59] - Attempt #13 to get work failed, and no other work to do.
Waiting before retry.

Boy, wished I'd checked here FIRST! I thought something was wrong in my Vista, and had been re-configuring like crazy trying to get work.
Tried every configuration I could think of, small, normal, big, ADVMETHODS on, then off, even tried moving the folders around to see if it was Vista's UAC blocking them. Am I an IDIOT or what? (Don't answer that!
)
Guess I'll just do what I should have done at the start, just leave it be! But at least I got around to setting it up as a service now!

+1 WinXP SMP for most of the day
GPU seems fine
PS3 seems fine
Dual Core Vista running w/out SMP looks fine

Interesting.
I've received WUs for both PS3 and NVIDIA GPU.
That would leave Classic, SMP and ATI GPU unable to get work.
Wonder if the problem is assign.stanford.edu itself...

Interesting. My bigadv folding rig (using Linuxrouter's vm) that has been folding bigadvs for ages just picked up a regular wu (project 2662...1920pts according to HFM)
