I heard that on the news this morning ... but I thought it was a joke because I listen a channel dedicated to jokes and sketches.

I'll have to read the more carefully this evening

So if you were to scale up a cell phone to a comparable size (18 Wheel Semi-Truck) and radiated yourself with the energy a cell phone that size would create, ya, you might find a few extra neurons in your brain might be stimulated.

So would every potential cancer cell in your body, and you could pop popcorn on your head. <epic fail smiley goes here>

Researchers at the Florida Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center arranged about 70 mouse cages in a circle around a central antenna that emitted electromagnetic waves typical of what would emanate from a phone pressed to a human head. They were exposed to the radiation for two hours a day over seven to nine months.
7IM, doesn't sound like you bothered to read the article.

Dosage similar to a phone pressed to your head for two hours a day. Not (18 Wheel Semi-truck) dosage.

Really an interesting finding. Don't be so quick to dismiss, (esp. since you didn't even bother to skim over the information)

I did read it. They radiated the entire mices' body, not just their entire head, and not just one little mouse ear using a tiny cell phone analog.\
Tg and NT mice exposed to EMFs were housed in cages within a large Faraday cage,
which also housed the antenna of an EMF generator providing two 1-hour periods of
electromagnetic waves per day (early morning and late afternoon) at standard cell phone
levels/frequencies (918 MHz, 0.25 W/kg, 2 dB).
1 central antenna, radiating in all directions. And radiating what a typical human would endure. A 150 lbs human, with a 10 lbs head, vs. a less than 1 ounce mouse brain.

Tell me again that isn't truck sized.

EDIT: I will take this back slightly. The paper did not clearly state if they scaled down the dosage to mouse size. Is this human dosage at 0.25 W/kg? And what is the mouse equivalent?

I admit ignorance of their methods, not of the paper. ;)

From what they said on the news tonight it was equal to the amount that a human would get from a cell phone. But it is only 1 test and still has to be substantiated by others. Hopefully it will turn out to be a viable treatment for Alzheimer's. And I am pretty sure that if I was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and they gave me the choice of Dieing in 5 years from Alzheimer's or dieing in 5 years from radiation I would choose the radiation. I watched my Grandfather die from Alzheimer's and I personally would not wish that on anyone. And the odds are pretty good that I will have to deal with it in my life so I definitely have my fingers crossed and hope this is real.

Let us not yet be too hopeful on the issue that cell phone use could fight Alzheimers. The study is still too raw to be reliable and effective. But for the meantime, reading newspapers and answering crossword puzzle is the only advisable thing. Call Center Software

Dosage is quoted in W/kg because the specific absorption of biological tissue to microwave radiation is roughly proportional to its mass. Therefore a 1-ounce mouse brain will absorb around 1/160th the radiation of a 10-pound human brain at the same distance from the same antenna.

The SAR value used in the experiment was 0.25 W/kg. That's rather practical to achieve. The FCC SAR limit for cell phones is 1.6 W/kg for the closest 1g of tissue. Actual cell phone radiation levels range from about 20% of that to nearly 100%.

So, 10 pound human brain at 0.25W/kg would be 1.13W. Too bad most cell phones max out at well under 1 watt. The FCC(and most other countries') limit on 800-900MHz is 2 watts, and 1 watt on 1800-1900MHz.

I am amazed after reading this, how it can be possible that cell phone use can be useful against Alzheimer, it seems to be a study which is not approved yet, before applying this people should wait for the results of research.
