Venting my spleen about this, isn’t it time that seeing this screen was resolved, and also the amount of time it takes to update the Stats Pages Ahhhhggggggg!

The database server is currently serving too many connections. Please try again in a few minutes.
Thank you

Conceptually, I'm sure everyone agrees with you -- though their emotions don't come out so clearly. ;)

FAH has grown more rapidly than equipment could be upgraded. The new hardware was mentioned some time back in Dr. Pande's blog and if I understand correctly, it's being prepared for service. Unfortunately that is a process that must be done very, very carefully where there is no room for error -- so every step is checked and rechecked -- and ends up going slower than anyone might have predicted. All I can say is: help is on the way. :D

Success and exponential growth are to blame, so overall that screen is a positive!

I abdicated the responsibility of posting the team stats on to another Guy.

Your quote above holds very true, providing it's not you, or me, thats having to post the team stats, I've folded for maybe 6 years and didn't realise I was born until I started my own team.

At the beginning there were no problems, but when I now do check myself, I see that the problem is getting progressively worse rather than better. Unfortunately because I am also a mod of a site I don't get the time now to be looking around here to read posts about what is, or is not happening.

The posts above are correct that the large growth is responsible for slower updates. We are moving to a new server in late January (I wrote a blog post discussing this briefly). The new machine will have *a lot* more RAM, faster RAID, etc, so the updates should get a lot faster after we upgrade hardware.

For now, 3rd party stats do a great job in helping us out here as well.

PS Check out the stats now. What we did isn't great, since it removes some data (the "N/A"'s on the pages), but as I see it: partial data is better than no data. It is easy to go back to the old code, so once we get the new hardware on line, we can get back all of the old functionality.

Now that is nice the page downloaded in under 2 sec I did 3 searches and they all completed in under 2 sec. Nice job :)

Now, that is a result, thank you for your time. :)

That is very positive thing. Having so many users running Folding@Home allow your team to get a lot more done.

I hope the project will continue to grow and even more can be accomplished.

Plus, new servers are always cool to have!
