FaHWiki forum links still point to expired folding-commuity

With http://folding.stanford.edu/ currently down, I went to the FaHWiki for some information. After clicking a few links, it became obvious that the majority (all?) of the links pointing to forum discussions are still pointing to the old community Folding@home forum. If those discussions are archived here, the Wiki should be updated to reflect the actual location. If the discussions were lost when that site went down, the links should be removed. That is, of course, assuming that the Wiki is still to be considered a useful and relevant resource.

edit: stanford's site is back up. :P

So why don't you get an account at the wiki and edit it, since you are so enthusiastic?

There was once a hope that the old forum could be restored, so we didn't remove the old links. I think a crippled copy of the data is still around somewhere. However, the wiki should only be reference source material, while all actual technical data should be copied to the wiki.

AT this point, old links can either be updated to point to the relevant sections of the new forum, or the old links can be removed.

Because I like to get more information / permission before I go in and start editing stuff?

Thanks for the info/clarifications 7im. Losing all that valuable data was a huge loss, and shame to hear that its been deemed unrecoverable. If its permissible, I don't mind spending some time in the wiki getting it updated so, if nothing else, its less frustrating for those looking to it for info. But I'm wary of removing links.

Use your best judgement. Many links were simply a reference to where the material in the WIKI article came from, and also a convenience so one could go back and read the post in full context. But if the article is complete and up to date, there is very little need to keep the link.

You could always just make a note the link was remove for whatever reason, but put a copy of the link on the Talk page for that article, or simply drop it in the comments you make when you save the update. Gone, but not forgotten. ;)
