Status Server just a little bit crazy.

Gentlemen,

Well, the fact that I will write here is strange, for the first time I ever see this and it difficult to see and I can't really prove it. I believe that a good "Photoshop man's" can modify this but I guarantee to all of yours that I did not do that.

In the my forum, Forum PCs Brasil, we usually launch a topic every time that someone reach a milestone. Yesterday night, a member called socr (to be true, his real nick is Socr@tes) has finally reach the 1.000.000 points. So I usually open a topic, to celebrate this remarkable fact, as I did today and every one can see it in this link.

But the strange was that last night when someone from my team told me that Socr@tes, hit the 1,000,000 points, I start to look for the certificate from Stanford, but what I see was this :

Image

By this picture, Socr@tes, that appears as socr in the 26th place, did not reach the target. But, wait, how this guy knows that ?
He tolds me that had see the EOC. So this is the picture from EOC, that show Socr@tes (or socr) in the 4th place from top 20 list, with more than 1,000,000 of points :

Image

So, by the first time in my life, I see the EOC, now usually more than an hour late than Kakaostats, show something before Stanford.

I am also noting that general punctuation of all teams are going down, include my own team. I also note some erratic counting, specially at 12:00 pm in almost every day. Is this some indicative that there is anything wrong with these servers ?

Sorry for the image's quality, I am not so good in this.

Best Regards, Fernando.

The Stanford stats system is down at the moment, so I cannot see socr's page. Has he contributed to multiple teams in the past? When seen under the team's page, a donor's contribution to that team is shown which may not be necessarily the same as the total contribution by that person.

This is just a guess at this point of time, and may be the incorrect. There may be stats hiccups like the ones you noticed.

About him, I am absolutely sure that he did not contributed with multiple teams in the past, which does not avoid that other people has use socr nickname in the past.

Yes, you are right, but EOC always show the points that you made for that team, not for the other ones. I have an example of one guy that already collaborate in three teams and EOC shows only the points for that team.

Or may be the server that gives information to KakaoStats, EOC and another stats sites is not the same that one that "feeds" Stanford page.

Regards, Fernando.

The Stanford stats come from the database that is posted (fed) for EOC and the others to download.

Also, EOC stats tends to group the names together, so if someone else has also donated under the name of socr, then the two account are combined, giving more points.

And here is another reason from the EOC stats FAQ (may affect the points total, due to socr's nickname...)

Q: Why are my points constantly higher than what is displayed on the Stanford stats page?
A: Stanford filters user names that contain an email address or other potential private info. Thus what appears to the average user as dupliucate names on the same team are really different people. Since there is no other unique identifier I simply sum all the stats for duplicate names on the same team to prevent various data corruption issues on my side. This has a potential side-effect of putting a person out of place in the individual stats since I sort that by their individual rank.

So if someone from that same team donated at socr and at socr@tes, then they get combined at EOC, because everything after the @ sign is not shown on the Stanford stats, but Stanford does recognize the difference.

It's seem to be not this case, 7im !

There is only one donor with the nickname socr in both, EOC, or Stanford, and there is only in Team 13802.

And one day more with Status Server with problems at 15:00 UTC.

Regards, Fernando.

I noticed that too. Last night, EOC was showing that my team was at 290k something points, whereas, the Stanford page -not in update mode- was stuck at 288. None of the members of my Team has contributed to other teams. Also, there are no duplicate usernames. All of my team members are folding with the same username since they began.

@Fernando_Celio, Here are two users with the stats display names are socr: http://fah-web.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/mai ... rname=socr [socr] and http://fah-web.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/mai ... Xveh%40nwX [socr@tes]. Their stats are independently tabulated in the official Stats. These also appear individually in the official Team stats page http://fah-web.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/mai ... mnum=13802. At the time of writing this, socr is at position 26 while socr[@tes] is at position 797.

As 7im said, EOC merges these two stats and displays the total. That is why when socr showed up as 1,000,000 on EOC, it said 1,000,000-3xxx=997,xxx in the Official stats.

The differences will continue to grow as long as he continues to submit results under both names. According to the stats, socr has a large number of clients running on a variety of machines, however there are only 3 machines using the name socr@tes so he probably should find those machines and change them to contribute to his main account.

1CB0DD0169XXXXXXXX (3 clients) Intel Windows
CAB32F6901XXXXXXXX (one client) Intel Windows
E6D7747FF1XXXXXXXX (either 1 or 2 clients) Athlon Windows

You probably already know, but the Pande Group will not adjust any of the points after a WU has been uploaded, so all he can hope to do is correct future results from those three machines.

anandhanju and 7im

OK, now I understand this point.

Now the people at Stanford has just to fix the 15:00 UTC report, makes status server adds points faster and everything will be allright.

Best Regards, Fernando.

P.S.: anandhaju, are you a relative of Vishy Anand ?
