Translations on webpage

Hi,

sorry if this is the wrong place for the criticism, but I just came across the webpage, although I follow the progress of the project a longer time.

I'm a native German speaker and I was shocked as I switched to German on the webpage - I guess you just put your text into Google Translator or something ? barley one sentence is correct (i guess this will be true also for some other non-English languages).

This puts a totally weird light on this project - I'm a bioinformatics and I love those projects and try to convince others to use them.. but if they start reading these "translations" they think this is way not serious....

Honestly - my suggestion would be either to remove the automated generated translations (as most people do understand English) or find a professional translator for that

The current states just is not standard for scientific work in my eyes.

Just my 2cents
Thanks

Hello mcfly, welcome to the forum.

I don't think that's how the page was translated, but I can't be sure. Typically the translations are written by a native speaking contributor to the project, and then forwarded to Pande Group to be uploaded to the web page. If the Deutsch page is machine translated, it is because whomever volunteered to do the translation took a shortcut doing the translation. And unfortunately, since PG doesn't sprechen, we are only now finding out with feedback from the folding community.

If you would like to contribute to a better translation, I would be more than happy to put you in contact with the appropriate PG member. Just send me a PM for more details. Danke.

Thanks for the feedback. Could you give an example of a page with a poor translation? Was it, say the homepage or some more auxiliary page? If it was the main page (eg home page or download page), that's something I'd want to fix immediately.
