New interface?

Hello folders!

I wish Stanford could implent a totally new interface. Or let people work together with an opensource software to totally change the software you are downloading today. The Memphis look (Windows 98) is pretty boring. And the way you start a user isn't so great etiher.
Some people may think that this is unnecassary, and some hopefully agrees.

When I talk about a new interface, then I talk about alot of new features and a totally new design.
First of all, I want to register as a user, nickname, pass, mail and so on. Then I download the software and login to my account. Well, in this new version of F@H you have a menu in front of you there you can choose team to join and look in your mail and see if you have got any invites. It may sound like a game and you have right. It's not a game, but this makes folding funnier for some people. Maybe a new team can get a forum, guestbook and connect to eachother, like a community. You can also invite people and se their latest results.
And the features Extremeoverclocking gives us is worth gold. They shall implent a feature like that in this new software?

I've a lot of ideas, but my english isn't the best so right now I'll shut it and listen to you guys.

And remember!! Stanford is just a part of this, users (engineers hopefully) will volountery make this.

So what do you guys think? It's not so necassary but It would make this process even funnier :)

Don't need mail, invites, or guestbook for Folding. Already have a forum, right here; don't need to access the forum via the F@H client...

The minimalist console client does the job very well, and the systray client works for those not comfortable with the command-line interface.

Since there is still a lot of work to be done on functionality of the SMP and GPU clients, I think the developers' time is MUCH better spent on that!

Some would disagree, but Stanford has always followed a minimalist design philosophy. All those extra bells and whistles just slows down the computer, and so then less science gets done. And getting more science done is one of their top priorities. Also, writing and supporting all those extra features also takes time away from studying the science of the project, also a top priority.

Well, perhaps voluntary people could make a site insteed with scores, teams and so on? You just login to the screen in the software :)

As you say, this is more for fun then for science. But it would make things easier... :)

There are numerous forums and F@H web sites sponsored by various teams. I'm sure you can find links to many more by browsing a few that are listed at the top of this page.

I don't see what would be "easier" about inserting this stuff in the client. The client normally runs in the background. All you need is a simple URL link once you find the team site you like...

Yes, you are so right.

But people I've recommended F@H has complained about the concept, and I saw this as a funny thing. But it seems funnier, but don't know why ^^

Click on the link "Kakao" at the top of this page. Is that what you're asking for? (The "ExtremeOC" link is a good one, too, but they don't take you straight into the scores/teams/& so on).

All you have to do is go to your personal or team page on EOC, and bookmark that URL. it will take you to the updated stats every time!
