Stats is still borked. EOC reporting 0 when I know for a fact that I've uploaded units.

The official stats update every hour (assuming that no server issues are there). EOC updates every 3 hours so you will have to wait for it to catch-up. However, if there are Server issues, it may take time for the official stats to catch-up to the backlog of points so give it sometime to be completely up-to-date.

The new back-up GPU AS Server is released but will need a new FAHClient to work with (

New backup GPU Assignment Server update
We’re happy to report that we’ve got a backup GPU AS online. As with any of our servers, you can say “hi” and test your connection to it manually by sending your browser to it:
http://assign-gpu2.stanford.edu (you’ll see it say “OK” if you can get through).
The link has :8080 at the end of the URL....Remove :8080 and you will then see OK
OK now it works with 8080 or without 8080

The offical stats are still reporting 24 WU's when I know I've completed more.

Yup, they are a good 15 hours behind the schedule for me too.

Thanks for reporting. The last update was at Thu Jan 9 15:00:06 UTC 2014 so I have informed PG Member. Let's see what happens.

No offense but that's certainly one of the stupidest thing I've ever heard. You need to have a single machine catch all requests and reroute has needed (that's what a router does). So that whenever you need to redirect the traffic elsewhere (downtime, new servers, new types of servers), you just change a redirect on 1 machine and you're done. And you can build one from the scrap hardware you have lying around if you don't have 1-2K to buy one, just Google it.
& Don't try and bullshit me that it can't be done. Facebook works like that and they use all open source to do it. I think they have a higher load in a day than you've had in your entire lifetime (just in picture they have to increase their HD space by multiple PETAbytes, every month).
I can certainly understand why a research guy doesn't know this, but the network admin at Stanford & or the programmer??? They both need to have their ass fired, and I mean right now.
Seriously, now you expect to have 2-3 million people just re-download the latest software?
How are you going to TELL them to do that? Last time I checked, I never got ANY e-mails from FAH. Aside from the key, because I requested it.
That's not true for many if not most of the smaller contributors.
You guys need to get your asses in gear. If you don't know how to run a multi Billion dollar research project like this, FIND the people who can, ASAP.

I don't know enough about networking to suggest how it should be done, but when I got the RSS feed on this I do remember thinking that new hardware with no software means no hardware

Facebook doesn't have the strict security that fah maintains. Fah doesn't allow rerouting. Call it stupid if you like. Others might understand and appreciate it.

I'm ready to enlightened.
How can INTERNAL rerouting INSIDE the network can be a bad thing, when fully controlled by a competent group of admins?

Assignment Servers are contacted directly from the outside by the client.
Routing all that traffic becomes a single point of failure for multiple servers. It also offloads the workload to each of the servers, not all on one server or all on one router.

You really think google or facebook as a SINGLE computer to route ALL THEIR TRAFFIC?
But they have a single url. That then redirect to the required server (including the one with available resource that can do the required task). Those are redundant as hell. That's why those servers never, ever go down (barring a fire that wipes out the entire data center... and even that is probably not enough to kill the site).
Same thing for your bank, your hospital and any other online server, ever.
I'm not a network engineer, but I know that much!

FAH is not Google. Google has been hacked. Facebook has been hacked. Your bank has been hacked. And they all have massive Networking budgets.
FAH has to do it with low cost options. It's way easier to hard code a server address in a new client than to put up the kind of multiple Network Operation Centers like Google and your Bank has to monitor, maintain, staff, upgrade, etc. Target just got hacked. 1000s of credit card #s and personal information stolen. When was the last time you heard of FAH getting hacked?

Budget has very little to do with this. I'll give 1M$ to the next idiot who claims to be a network expert and it'll all go down the drain. Same goes for huge corporations. All it takes is 1 hole, once.
Also you think you wouldn't be hacked if you had 100M + CC stored in your DB? (BTW someone from the inside giving stuff away, or forgetting a laptop somewhere isn't a hack, it's simple theft. Then there's the idiot who gives his password away, again not a hack, just a con).
The only real difference here is that you have nothing worth stealing because #1 you give it all away anyways and #2 it's not sellable as is even if you got hacked, contrary to credit card info or Googles' latest software / source code / seo logic etc.
here's a free router option, just from crap you have lying around. And even with a cheap new 500$ pc (I7, mobo, 4 gb ram, repurposed 10 GB nic) you could do this for the amount of traffic you have :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q0JFfpG4BWI
If you really think about it 2 seconds, getting the ip of your target is like 0.00000000000000000000000000000000001% of the job of actually hacking it. So you're not protecting ANYTHING there.
And going back to banks and CC info. All the encryption keys of all the banks and CC processor and public domain.
Yes the exact key used to encrypt & lock your transaction away is public, and yet they can't be hacked on the fly. (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M7kEpw1tn50 )
That's why most "hacks" are actually with the help of employees who install card reader to copy / save your info (or just a con man for 1 day jobs and small amounts of cc).
