It's a downside of having so many real cores and not having a die shrink... those are still produced on 45nm process. To keep heat output realistic the clock speeds have to be low...

Re: FAH-Addict: Folding@home's premier news site.
Umm... I am having trouble loading the site and the RSS feed. the latest feed is about Asus Ares and RSS feed displays "live bookmark feed failed to load" and when opening the site, it displays a white blank page without any message. I am accessing the English version and am using FF 3.5.8. Anybody else having any problems with the site?
EDIT - everything is back to normal.

Re: FAH-Addict: Folding@home's premier news site.
The server has some random issues with storage (it uses network storage with iSCSI) ... sometimes, the iSCSI server disconnects ... so in the meantime, the server answers but can't load pages. It usually come back automatically quickly.
The hosting company is investigating the issue and trying to fix the storage server.

Re: FAH-Addict: Folding@home's premier news site.
You may want to update the Nvidia Driver article as its now officially a problem
EDIT - I am feeling really lucky that I am still using GeForce ION Driver Release 195.62 WHQL First the problem was the if you manually OC the card, the drivers would return it to stock and now the latest driver causes your GPU to heat up I won't be surprised if somebody from the Nvidia Driver team gets fired. Not to mention that the Fermi card will hopefully be launched this month and a driver that causes GPU to over heat will surly fry the Fermi which are already running hot.
Source (http://www.tomshardware.com/news/Nvidia ... or=RSS-181)"We are aware that some customers have reported fan speed issues with the latest 196.75 WHQL drivers on NVIDIA.com. Until we can verify and root cause this issue, we recommend that customers stay with, or return to 196.21 WHQL drivers. Release 196.75 drivers have been temporarily removed from our Web site in the meantime."

Re: FAH-Addict: Folding@home's premier news site.
GeForce GTX 470 and 480 announced
AMD announces the Opteron 4000 and 6000
Intel announces the Nehalem-EX: 6500 and 7500
Also there is a new poll on the homepage... seeing if anybody prefers other measures to PPD. We suspect we already know the answer to this but nothing like putting it to the public
