That is the last version of the A3 core developed and released for OS X. The A3 projects on servers other than this use an updated version of the A3 core, version 2.27 as I recall. That updated core was only released for Windows and Linux.

The WU's you listed getting are the next generation created after the previous was turned in earlier in the day. So not "new", just next in the sequence for an existing run and clone of the project. I am not surprised that these projects are winding down, some started over two years ago. Perhaps further research in the area being worked on requires features not available in the older A3 core.

I went to V7 last year to be able to do different projects from other servers than just this one. So far that has worked out. I do run on 10.6.8, and have just got an external drive to load 10.7 on to try out V7 with it. But I will not be able run 10.7 full time, I have software that has no direct replacement that does not run under 10.7.

Wait patiently for new work, or upgrade to V7. Those are the stated options.

We're in the process of creating some more jobs for this server. For those who can, I would recommend upgrading to v7. You'll have a broader array of projects and work servers available (and more in the future).

171.64.65.54 seems down

Post by World Control »

171.64.65.54 seems to be down since yesterday (10/11) late-morning/early-afternoon. I have 5 machines that have finished processing Project 6040 WUs. They're waiting to upload the results but haven't been able to since the server went down. I haven't seen any other comments about 171.64.65.54 so I thought I should post here. Should I purge these finished WUs from the affected clients and let the F@H servers reallocated new WUs to them? My machines are idle now and can make up the difference in a couple of hours. I'll wait if that's more helpful. Advice on next-steps for me appreciated.

Mod edit: Corrected the server ID in first sentence

Merged with existing topic, notice has been sent to Dr. Kasson that the server is down.

No need to purge the WU's they will upload when the WS is back. Unless you are running V7, you will have to wait until this server is back online to get new WU's. There is a new beta of V7 out for OS X, so far it has been working okay for me.

Thank you. I'll wait until the server issue is resolved.

I've been keeping my eye on v7 developments. I'm not running it yet. I'll probably make the jump eventually.

The server is back up and running, but it is nearing the end of its lifetime. We would really encourage people to migrate to the v7 client if feasible.

Finally took the latest v7 beta plunge yesterday myself on an iMac Core i7 with OS X 10.7.5 and it runs smooth as silk. Highly recommended. :)

The server appears to be down again. All of my Macs are running v7 clients, but they still seem to pick up a unit from this server every few weeks.
