I'm just happy that my machine can be doing something useful much of the time, now that I understand that, due to reasons beyond my control, there may be long periods of time when it is waiting for a suitable WU.
I've allocated 3 of 8 CPUs and the GPU to FAH. Sometimes I have 1 WU running with 2 or 3 CPUs, and sometimes a WU running on the GPU; occasionally I have both CPU and GPU WUs running. If I suspect that my machine is subjectively slow due to FAH, I simply pause the CPU WU. So far it seems that there must be something else going on, because pausing that WU doesn't make any difference.
Anyway, I appreciate the info provided on this thread.

Re: fah-client 8.4.9: HTTP_SERVICE_UNAVAILABLE ("No appropriate assignment")?
On my main rig running Linux, I find that the only thing that really gets tripped up is my integrated GPU, making video stutter, and that can be solved by not using one core for folding. If I'm playing a game tho, I have to quit folding entirely.
Try pausing your WU, rebooting, and then see if things still feel sluggish. You might have something else running in the background, or you might have malware that has found it's way in. Could have a disk beginning to fail...a million potential reasons to investigate.

Thanks, but I'm a not-very-techie user, and really wouldn't know where to start investigating.Ravage7779 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 12, 2025 4:55 pmOn my main rig running Linux, I find that the only thing that really gets tripped up is my integrated GPU, making video stutter, and that can be solved by not using one core for folding. I have another issue now, but will look for a thread here to help me. I've tried following the docs, but I'm clearly missing something.
