i tested windows 7 32 bit on my toshiba lappie:
core duo 1,6ghz
1gb ram

installed cpu client as a service, with advanced methods and big wu's enabled.

it all ran flawlessly, with no real difference in speed from windows XP MCE and ploughed through three 905 point wu's until i decided to go back to XP.

greetz,

Richard

8800 ultra in windows 7

The 8800 ultra has been running good on the windows 7 beta. I've noticed that there is a optional prelease driver out there called WDDM 1.1 I'll attach a piture. Would this driver work for folding and could it be better?

Thanks

waiting for your response as I've been thinking of messing around with Windows 7 on one of my machines.

Seems to be some beta drivers with support for the new WDDM, so I'd say it only adds compatibility with some of the new w7 visual features, nothing which should be f@h related. Dont know if folding would work, but it should work. Any improved f@h performance is doubtful tho, as it really only seems to be some recently released driver with only WDDM 1.1 support added.

The driver will work. I'm using a similar driver from Windows Update and I haven't seen any performance hit compared to my Vista with 177.xx drivers.
By the way, the pre-release driver version is 179.43.

Im testing on my main rig with just the gpu client. Most things are running ok but i have had three EUE pauses which i never had before in vista. But so far thats the only problem><. Windows7 ftw...

Since Windows 7 seems to work pretty well with CPU- and GPU-clients, I am wondering...

Did anybody see performance gains while being:
- using Win 7 Beta versus XP or Vista?
- using a new build (f.e. 7068) and compared to an older build like 7000?

installed *64 release canidate 7100, faster installation time than vista *64
smp beta 6.23 cpu working good now,
6.23 gpu working good now,

like vista 64, when I -configonly smp beta,
it will encounter errors and shut the process,
but after few tries,
-configonly will work

Win7 + ATI 4670 with GPU client must have the latest version of Catalyst Control Center downloaded from here: http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catalyst.aspx (I suppose you could go to ATI's website but I'm too lazy to find that :P)

185.81 drivers for NVIDIA GPUs (64-bit and 32-bit) for Windows 7 were posted on the NV public downloads page a few days ago. I'm planning to give folding a shot with these drivers. Any official word on using these yet (especially after the outcry over using the leaked 185 drivers)?

By the way, Windows Updates do not provide these drivers yet.

A couple of days ago I added a second GTX260 to my Windows 7 machine. At the same time I checked NVidia for drivers and upgraded from 181.71 to 185.81.

So far it is working well with the 2 GTX260 gpu folders and a single smp folder. Processor is a Core i7 920.

Is anyone seeing a worse 2D lag with Windows 7 RC (build 7100)? I've tried both 181.72 and 185.85 drivers and both of them have the same lag, though the 185 one, for me, is only slightly worse (barely noticeable).

I guess my 9500GT might be exaggerating the lag since it's a slower graphics card...but it's still more laggy.

New 9.4 driver released last week?

This might not be the right question becoz of fah currently not officially supporting Windows 7, but I doubt no one is using runing GPU FAH under Windows 7

In ATi official web site: http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catal ... ws-7-64bit
there are two drivers for win7 64bit (same for 32bit, 2 drivers), one released on 8/4/2009, which I think everyone got this, but there's another one released on 5/5/2009, with Windows 7 WHQL Driver under the download button, does anyone know any difference between them?

The CCC version and driver version is definitely different....

just started running FAH, got 3567ppd for 384pt WU, slightly higher then the one released on 8/4/2009
and cpu usage is always 0-1%

how many cores does Windows 7 RC support, i.e., will it see 8? TIA.
