We switched over to this forum at the beginning of December after a period of sadly having no forum at all. The old forum is still accessible, but only really usable in a read-only fashion here:
http://folding-community.org/
Yes, everybody had to re-register.
Thanks for the info.

Was there some problem today, or just heavy traffic? I was unable to even get to the forum all day- IE timed out waiting for it. It popped right up this time.
Sunday 10 Feb from 0600 to 1600 GMT-5.

It's been working fine all day here.
Maybe you had some local (ISP) DNS trouble.

I could not access the forum from early this morning until mid afternoon, today.
Nor could I access
http://folding.typepad.com/news/ during that same time frame.

This is the first time I could get to the forun in about 24 hours. Same problem as my last post- the connection would time out prior to bringing up the index page.

Based on the previous posts, and the low number of new posts/threads,
it would seem that there is an ongoing problem with folks being able to access the Folding Forum.

Can I suggest that if you have problems accessing the forum again, that you first try pinging the domain. If that fails, try pinging the IP of the server directly, which is 209.62.36.118.
If that works, try getting to the forum via
http://209.62.36.118/~folding1/ and see what happens.
If you have any difficulties, email admin {at} foldingforum {dot} org to let us know.
Thanks.
(For the record, I've been able to access the forum all weekend, I do however have the IP stored in my hosts file)

I discovered my problem was using the old forum url. It worked until Friday, but not since. All is well now.

I'm unable to get here using
http://foldingforum.org/ (my normal "favorite"), but
http://209.62.36.118/~folding1/ works. It still took 2 or 3 tries to login once I got here- 3 times on 3 different computers.
edit- It also logs me out if I navigate away from the forum and come back.

The login-logout issues are due to the cookies being linked to foldingforum.org which obviously don't work correctly if you come in via the direct IP route, so that's not a "problem" per-se.
What does appear to be a problem is the frequency that DNS troubles seem to be affecting people.
