so i need 2 clicks to start the game and five clicks to stop FAH GPU.
that is not an option

if there is no better solution then I will write a batch file that will automaticly delete those AMDCAL* files when FAH GPU is launched from Win 7.

Have been running GPU2 and SMP for over a week now on the 64bit version and have had no issues, very stable. Made sure I followed the Vista guide to install everything, also used Windows update to get the NVidia beta drivers.

Just as an FYI - and not on purpose:
GPU Folding on a system with Win7(GPU2 6.23)
Single 9800GTX+
Launched a 2nd instance of the GPU client by mistake. (couldn't tell because the tray only showed 1 client.)
FAHmon was very confused, and showed data for one data set running - if one had just finished, the other client would "resume" onto FAHmon.
-So Fahmon would go from 100% to 20% or so, very weird, and not stable.
Fahmon would also only show 2400-ish PPD
Taskman showed 2 instances of Fahcore_11.exe running, so I rebooted (with the icon display settings set to show folding@home) and all was good again.

As i said at the beginning of my post - not on purpose, but curious.

I just switched from XP to 7 and lost ~300PPD on my HD4850's. I'm seeing about the same CPU usage too.

I'm impressed, just 1% of CPU Usage to run the GPU client on Windows 7 or XP. That's a far cry from the 100% CPU usage it used to require.

I've had no problems running the NVIDIA GPU client on Windows 7. FahMon however does require admin priviliges to install and run.

Just installed new ATI windows 7 beta driver software for my ATI 4870 graphic card and display is now working. Just a little research at the ATI Radeon website and all ok---while doing this uploaded another finished folding. Kasperskey anti-virus has a windows 7 beta version on their website whiched fixed my printer driver spooling problem. Windows 7 beta is working great now.

Have been running windows 7 beta for two days with GPU console 6.23 of 11/26/2008 with no problems except when attempting to display folding I get message "viewer.exe has stopped working" and no folding display. Did a upgrade from Windows Vista Ultimate 32 bit with GPU console 6.23 already installed. All works fine except no display. Any suggestions on getting back the folding display. Running ATI 4800 series video card with i7 cpu.

The display is buggy, and rather hit and miss as regards whether it works or not. For some people it works, for some people it doesn't, and it can stop working or start working for no apparent reason. However as Folding@home is currently not supported on Windows 7 (you are beta testing it, even for the finished clients), I doubt there is anything we can do to get the viewer working. I recommend using a program like FahMon to monitor your clients instead of the viewer.

Welcome to the forums.

F@H works fine using Windows 7 Beta

I just installed Windoes 7 and used windows update to get latest drivers, but some are not installed still. I try to get X58 drivers from Intel and can't seem to find them. I also try to install optional updates and the 9800GX2 driver fails (I have 2 9800GTX in slot 1 & 2 with 9800GX2 in slot 3). Maybe just a beta bug. has anyone else gotten different video cards to work side by side?

anyway, does anyone know where to download any Windows 7 drivers?

Works great so far- I used initially the included WDDM 1.1 driver and 181.20(CUDA), but I just switched to 185.20(leaked) and noticed good improvement on the 511 pointers. So far:
1. ALL the lag issues are gone
2. Win7 gets BSOD (0xD1,tdx.sys) when network drive (Samba) is conected, so I have to monitor the from within Linux. It is possible that antivirus (ESS) is causing it.
3. All videos, incuding HD x264 DXVA accelerated, work without a hitch.
4. Aero works on ATI X300
So far its a win-win (excuse the pun) situation. :D

I'm about to give windows 7 a try from vista and had a question. Is there a way I can save the current projects im currently running (smp/gpu) so that when I install windows 7 I could install the clients again and have them start where they left off.

I'm assuming your doing a clean install. All you need to do is to go into the client folder and copy queue.dat, the work folder, and unitinfo.txt and paste it into your new client folder.

I got the deiver issue fixed(just a reboot and all was fine) I'm folding just fine except in my vmware machine.Does anyone have a trick to get vmware to install Ubuntu so I can get my smp client folding again?

vmware seems toonstall,it just won't start up. maybe a ie8 issue r something. I got firefox to workwith vmware with vista the other day, maybe I'll try that in windows 7.

Have the same problem here, even with firefox. Are you using 64-bit Windows 7? I remember seeing something about issues with Vista x64, but I'm not sure if this applies here.
