First, please redact your passkey. Treat it as secret.
Please reread the users guide.
Your passkey is not a password.
If you have not registered an account for web control, please do so.

Joseph said that restricting the passkey ownership to a single web control account is deliberate.
He is still considering alternatives for handling registration emails.

I have the same problem. I have run folding on my machines for a long time but when I tried to add another machine I was asked to register an account. I have never received the confirmation email and it has not gone to spam. I am completely stuck as the account is set up but not registered and there is no method of trying again.

Some email services will silently block the email.
Please try a popular service, such as gmail.

Hi,
I am an "old" user and would like to setup an account to link it with my username, but I have some issues that look similar to the ones discussed here:
When I want to login:
Account not active
Please verify your email address to activate your account.
==> But I don't receive any e-mail (not even in spams)
When I want to Request Folding@home account reset:
Your request to reset your Folding@home account has been submitted.
You have been sent an email verification message. Please follow the link in the email to complete your account reset.
==> But I don't receive any e-mail (not even in spams)
When I want to register:
Account exists
Please login or request a password reset via the login dialog
Also, if I try with different email (gmail) address and different passkey:
When I want to login:
Signing in failed
DB:1643: Login not found
When I want to register:
Account exists
Please login or request a password reset via the login dialog.
When I want to Request Folding@home account reset:
Requesting account reset failed
DB:1643: Login not found
==> Can't do anything then
I have tried several times over several days.

I just tried creating a new account in firefox browser, with gmail.
I entered email address, then my desired password twice (
NOT my passkey), then my username (without any special #@x0r_ characters), team number, and finally the passkey from old fahclient, for bonus points eligibility. I clicked register, and got a pop up saying registration successful, please check your email for verification message. I check my email, and I have received Folding@Home verification email. I clicked on the link in the verification email, got a message saying verification successful. Clicked on log in, entered email address I just used to register, and password I just created (
NOT the passkey)
It is very hard to tell what you guys are doing to cause these errors. Are you using some weird email providers? Are mixing passkey with passphrase (password)?
It is impossible to get "This account already exists" on all of the many different email addresses you used (if you used them). I can get that you forgot that you already registered with new v8 client with one email, but, I refuse to believe that other email addresses were also used already for account creation.
So the server is not broken, and it works without delay
