Tom's Hardware just ran an article doing the exact same thing!

They were able to run at 2.1 Ghz and super low temps (mid 40's). Of course they didn't test F@H performance so it will be interesting to see what numbers your card puts out.

Will be interesting when you give the card the full power-limit of 120%

If the power limit is not reached using FAH then increasing it above 100% - it is still not reached.

what about temps and noise on 1080 Ti FE in closed box while Folding?
and is pci-e 3.0 x4 enough for full 1080ti ppd perfomance on windows?

We already know from other fast GPUs that using pcie 3.0 x4 on Windows reduces folding PPD by 10%, using Linux or pcie 3.0 x8 should be full performance.

Likely a driver difference - in windows there is significantly higher bus utilisation when folding and it quite quickly starts to affect performance.
A 1080 on Linux might show 1-2% utilisation but 40% on windows for 2.0 x16

Microsoft calls one important concept that is used to sell Windows is "The Windows Experience" which makes it appeal to the masses. This will add more overhead to almost anything you do, compared to Linux. Linux is more "geeky" and somewhat more difficult to use (especially the server versions) and it tends to be more efficient. Adherents to each platform can argue for days that their choice is "better" but it all boils down to a personal preference and the criteria behind your choice.

FAH supports your right to choose.

I have a box with an MSI 780 Lightening & a Gigabyte water cooled 1080.
FaH shows the 780 as a 1080 & folds as a 780, same speeds I got before the 1080. The 1080 is labelled as a 780 and folds at 1080 speeds. HAven't tried to force assignment in the FaH Control Advanced.

If you have not reinstalled the client since adding the 1080, do that first. The client doesn't do auto HW detection, only the installer.
