When you remove hardware, you have no way to guarantee that FAHClient will remove the slot that belongs to that GPU. When you add a GPU, you have no way of knowing if the new GPU will take over the existing slot and the old GPU will get a new one. Until there's a version of FAHClient which can manage multiple GPUs properly, not only is it difficult to know if the initial configuration got it right or not and that same dilemma comes up again when you add/remove GPUs.
Suppose you have two GPUs. Either you have a system that's properly configured or you have one in which the names of the GPUs are interchanged. You have to test with a Pause and see which one stops to figure that out. Once you've figured it out, you can either just remember that fact, or you can reconfigure the index settings to correct it. If, when changing the index values, you already have one or two WUs assigned, they might or might not match the hardware.
