If I need extra equipment, I would just buy it. Thus...

The problem is 'points' (in spite of .sig). I woulnd't care what user it would be. But if I pay electricity then points must go for my team (there're such strange beasts as russian-speaking ukrainian patriots (while I'm not exactly russian speaking)).

@whynot:

so, someone sends you a 1000$ plus computer, and you want to take credit for the points it makes, just because you will spend only a few 100 $$ worth of power in those 3 years???

i mean: i've calculated the cost of power with the prices here in holland, and it costs about 65$ a year to keep a 300 watt apparatus running 24/7/365.

1000$+

about 200$...

oh but you get to keep the system after 3 years, so in the end you only pay abo0ut 2000$ for a computer, where the guy that gives you the computer pays 1000$ plus..

and YOU want to get the credit??????????????????????????????????????????????

and then you say that you count for science in your sig, AND that points make you sick...

if that were true you couldn't care less where points went to. especially with an arrangement like this.

Relax. I'm not taking a place before you in line.

Please backup your bogus claim.

I'm speaking for me. Not for team.

I've made no agreement.

The cost of electricity is not the same in every country. I had to pay about 30 euros more (about $43) a month for adding one extra folding computer of the latest technology, for just one classic CPU client 24/7. A monster like this would probably cost me at least 40 more euros. With my monthly usage of electricity going probably as high as 150 euros a month (make that $218), I'd want to keep my points for myself.

Really no need to get worked up.
The OP has already admitted that it probably more complex and cumbersome than he initially anticipated.
I'm old enough to remember the various "free PC" and "free internet" offers that only required you View SPAM Adds.
You would have thought that they would have been huge winners, but it turns out people were and still are willing to pay for freedom!!
In this day and age, it is a refreshing history lesson.
