Errr... apparently they weren't. I feel pretty dumb considering that was the response to the post above me. The weird thing is, the clock was right when I installed the smp client on the machine yesterday, but Windows "synched" the time after that and somehow messed it up by an hour. >_> Not trying to make an excuse or anything, I should have double checked before I posted, but that's just messed up. Fixing the clock on the other machine didn't immediately fix the problem, suppose I'll have to wait til it finishes another frame.

Edit; Yeah, that took care of it. Cheers. :) Again, apologies for being so dumb, lol.

There are several free clock sync softwares out there. I use this one.

http://www.worldtimeserver.com/atomic-clock/

And I prefer the older version. 2.7.0.3

Runs very small in system tray if you want.

FAHMon says different due date than unitinfo.txt

FAHMon for my current work unit says:

Code: Select all

Project: 3064 (R3, C63, G21)
Credit: 1753 points
Downloaded: 3d 03h 48mn ago
Preferred Deadline: 2d 03h 48mn ago
Final Deadline: 3h 48mn ago
Indicating that I am overdue in the Final Deadline by nearly 4 hours.
My time and date right now is April 28, 2008, 10:55 PM (EST).

From the unitinfo.txt file:

Code: Select all

Current Work Unit
-----------------
Name: p3064_lambda5_2003
Tag: P3064R3C63G21
Download time: April 25 23:00:31
Due time: April 29 13:24:31
Progress: 80%  [||||||||__]
When is my workunit actually due? Is it overdue? Or do I still have 12 or more hours to finish?

FahMon has a bug. It doesn't yet recognize deadlines with fractional days. From the data above, the PD=1.0 day and FD=3.0 days. According to Psummary, PD=1.8 and FD=3.6

The unitinfo.txt file is correct. You have 0.6*24=14h 24m more than FahMon is giving you, but you're really cutting it awfully close.

You can download FahMon v2.3.2b (11/04/08) which fixes the bug with fractional deadlines still being truncated.

Hi uncle.
Staying busy?

I know that the "collect xyz" is in FahMon.
Would it be a lot of trouble to have it collect "Project /Run/Clone/Gen ?

When you have some spare time of course.
AH! Its nice being retired.

Collecting PRCGs is possible, and will in fact be required for something I have planned, but it probably won't be until a 2.4 or 2.5 release

FAHMON headaches from a NOOB

I'm new to folding -- I started about a week ago. I have 5 cores running at home. 2 on a AM2 5200x2 on a Gigabyte 790X DS4 board. 2 on a DFI LanParty UT SLI-DR Expert running a mildly OC'ed 4400+x2 (2.6G). The last one is my 3 year old Compaq Presario 2900v laptop runing a Turion 64L. The only machine I can get FAHMON to run on is the laptop. I've tried targeting the (what I think is) appropriate folder on the two desktops but I keep getting the dark square. Any ideas?

Make sure you have shares setup for the other machines either samba or NFS the black square indicates that FAH could not access the client files.

If you're running any of the new-style clients (v6 systray etc.), the folder that you need to point FahMon to is in \Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\folding@home on XP and \Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\folding@home in Vista.

Any interest in adding a shortcut to the XYZ folder? You could make it context sensitive, so the link only shows up if the Collect XYZ files option is enabled. ;)

UF,
How about adding the capability to handle fractional points (the new Ambers p4519-33) or convincing the PI to round up to whole number?

I don't have that folder. I'm trying to monitor the GPU2, and mine was installed under \Documents and Settings\<username>\Start Menu\Programs\folding@home-gpu. The client seems to be running fine, but I can only monitor by opening the log file.

The software should be installed in one place and the FAHlog.txt and unitinfo.txt and work folders should be in another place. When you configure FahMon it has to point to the place you find the *.txt files and the work folder. Did you try the location that uncle_fungus gave?

As I was writing a scathing reply to point out that I already said I couldn't find that folder, I had a stray thought- new build...new XP install...hadn't yet set it to show hidden files and folders...ooops!

My bad. Works now.
