Okay so I think I know what your saying tear. But is there no way to mod the langouste program to always run the helper script from a specific location? in other-words manually specify the working directory?

When you install FAH, you can specify the working directory. That is a native client feature that has nothing to do with langouste.
Re: Langouste -- WU upload/download de-coupler (+upload capp
I was asking if it was possible for to manually specify to langouste what the working directory is. As it currently stands it langouste detects the working directory by tracing the PID of the folding client.

Right, but not only working directory needs to be different: the "background" instance of Langouste needs to be executed on remote machine. That's where the challenge is...

Langouste 0.15.8.1 is now available. Details available in the first post.
0.15.8.1 introduces timeout logic which helps dealing with stalled servers (something that
should've been implemented in the client) and includes few other improvements
(more optimal WU return order in the helper script, more robust rate limiting).
Notably, 0.15.8.1 allows system-wide installation on Linux (to /usr/bin/ directory)
so running Langouste is now as simple as: langouste3 -l port-number (...)
(i.e. there's no need to cd to Langouste's directory any more).
Upgrade is recommended to users that have been experiencing stalls in server
communications (during WU uploads or downloads).

Langouste 15.10 is now available. Details are available in the first post.
We've actually been through two releases recently but I never got around
to announcing availability of 15.9 -- shame on me...
15.10 (along with 15.9) collectively include over one year of fixes and enhancements
-- see CHANGES section in the OP and do not hesitate to ask for details!
I would recommend an upgrade to every Langouste user -- if there still are any

For those of us running v7 clients, downloading and uploading are decoupled so it seems it is only useful for those still running a v6 client. Is that what you mean by "if there still are any"tear wrote:15.10 (along with 15.9) collectively include over one year of fixes and enhancements

Umm, I realized that D/L links were dead. They have been revived now.
