I don't know exactly what's happening with A2 WUs, but it looks like we're a bit low on work ...
These projects might be getting to their end ... or there have been a substantial rise of Linux/OSX SMP folders ...
Major Stanford Server Problem

Re: Major Stanford Server Problem
I'm going to blame OpenDNS for this issue.MtM wrote:I am now using opendns, the forum is quicker then I'm used to but I still get the connectivity issues with the other pages I mentioned. Other us based sites and forums don't have issues though, so it's definetly not dns related.
I use OpenDNS. Yesterday I was connected to foldingforum.org and suddenly I lost my connection. As it turns out, tracert went four hops and stopped.

I spent about an hour on the phone with my ISP. Their Tech was in Salt Lake CIty and he could get through from there. I did not get routed around the problem until I replaced OpenDNS with the DNS at my ISP.
Coincidence? Maybe, maybe not.

Re: Major Stanford Server Problem
Sorry Vijah I didn't reply sooner, not a connectivity issue this weekend just not on the forums. Yes psummary is working fine now, serverstats to.
Bruce I'm not convinced, I had the issues before switching to openDNS as well, and I didn't switch as of yet and now the pages all load up normally. Idk what it was. When the forum went offline on friday I asked Andrew if they where down, he's from the UK and could also not acces the forums. A couple minutes later, they where back again. I had issues at that same time with several US based forums and sites ( EOC, XS for instance ) and that's why I switched to openDNS later on. So the first outage could not be caused by openDNS, maybe serverstats and psummary did have some initial issues with their dns servers but idk, they work fine now so I'm as they say in the dark about what the real cause was.

I am not sure of that.toTOW wrote:I don't know exactly what's happening with A2 WUs, but it looks like we're a bit low on work ...

For more than a week I hardly got any a2 WU's on my 9 linux SMP client. Not because there aren't any, but because the only server which deals a2 units,
the 171.64.65.56 if up at all, than it is critically overloaded.
Currently the load average is 9.21 and I can't remember when it was not red or at least yellow.
One of my q6600 currently running:
Project : 3064
Core : SMP Gromacs
Frames : 100
Credit : 1753
-- Q6600-2 --
Min. Time / Frame : 7mn 39s - 3299.76 ppd
Avg. Time / Frame : 17mn 44s - 1423.49 ppd
Cur. Time / Frame : 7mn 40s - 3292.59 ppd
R3F. Time / Frame : 7mn 40s - 3292.59 ppd
which is capable well over 5900 PPD, would turn around an A2 WU in every 8 hours.
The E5200 units can do more than a Q6600@3.18GHz. (If they have any work at all, and don't have to idle for ours, waiting for submitting the result, let alone get new work)
I am not sure that this will not "hurt" the science more than running 2 SMP client parallel.
In my team:
Team User Info
New 0
Active 22 (-2 )
Inactive 107
Total 129
Avg PPD 1,469.1
I am sure frustration one of the reasons of the high attrition rate
