Re: overheating
If you can point to an actual bug, it can be reported on the F@h GitHub. But the client doesn't do anything with the power management of any system. beyond waiting for user inputs to be idle or disabling sleep mode.
As for your old account on the forum it and others were pruned after several years of no activity and no posts on the forum. If you used the same username before, that was 5 years ago from the admin logs.

Re: overheating
Please stop spreading misinformation. FAHclient has nothing to to with system power controls. It never had. You can't have a big for something which doesn't exist in the code.dogwitch wrote: ↑Wed Nov 05, 2025 5:58 am it a bug. that dev refuse to fix.

Please list the massive amount of bugs you encountered, that Dev can fix it. Be constructive

Re: overheating
to joe.
yeah it seems. i random log in to keep account live. but some how a prev log in did not take and did not notice that.
i report many bug on git with idle/sleep before. related to 10 and 11 os.
to muz this forum has a ton of post on issues with 8.
i ran into the over heating issue. i run same os/same drivers. only thing was with 8 instead of 7 it would somehow overheat something in the code not listen to safety in temp monitoring in the os.
the ltt team members have ran into same issue to.
we still cant figure out what cause this strange bug.

Re: overheating
That thread is telling you the same thing that you are being told here. You have hardware issues.https://www.reddit.com/r/Folding/commen ... ?context=1 reddit thread on the matter.
the other one for ltt.
I agree with the dude in that reddit thread and everyone else here telling you that you have hardware issues. Work units do vary quite a bit on how much they stress your hardware. Some put far less of a load on your CPU or GPU than others. This was very true when there were multiple cores in play at the same time years ago. I see this all the time when I check the temps to see if it's time to clean out the dust bunnies. Maybe you have just gotten into more stressful work units, and it's showing you the shortcomings of your cooling setup?
FAH just gives your CPU or GPU work to do. That's it. Nothing more, nothing less as it has always been. As far as bugs and issues go, the current client is significantly better than past clients. The issues I see now are almost entirely server related.
There's a reason people and companies run FAH as a stress test or as burn in software for their hardware. It will find every fault your system has.

Then use v7. There is no scheduled end of life.

Re: overheating
Again, please document your issue with proof and not just heresy. For that use the latest client version. Otherwise, as suggested above, keep using v7

Re: overheating
So, as it turns out, I'm MiataOwner over on Reddit. He and that other guy loved downvoting my replies, because neither of them wanted to hear about how overheating hardware is a hardware problem. And now he's here on the F@H forums, being told literally the same thing that he was downvoting me for.
Maybe I'll cross-link this forum post over there, just so anyone else in the future who finds his Reddit post can see the same answers from F@H forum staffers.

Re: overheating
I also have a reddit account, I usually avoid any such discussions. I have learned there are many self appointed PC experts who know just enough to be dangerous. They will gladly blame bugs that they can't point out or reproduce anywhere else, but the problem is never them. PEBKAC
In this case dogwitch has made claims of posting bug reports on the GitHub about the overheating. I don't see any such reports in either the open or closed ones. Still has not updated here, if not updated with factual information instead of unsupported claims I will be locking this topic in a couple days.
