It was unfortunately the wild west for a while with user names. So there are thousands of names with special characters which at some point were disallowed to protect against injection attacks.

Names may become less restrictive in the future. 3rd party sites will need to be careful to escape characters.

Yes, you must use the passkey app to generate a valid passkey. The stats used to accept user created passkeys, but that resulted in a number of problems and wasn't actually ever a supported method. So now any passkeys not recorded in the database used with the app will not get bonus points.

So do this:

1. Request a new passkey using any simple username you want and the email address you want it sent to. It could be "Maeda" for example. Stop trying to use "[AF>Libristes]Maeda", it contains three characters that are not officially supported for folding. The stats database has been more permissive in accepting unsupported characters.

2. Enter the new passkey into your system using Web Control, FAHControl, or by carefully editing the config.xml file and restarting the folding client.

3. Leave your existing username in the client alone, it does not have to match the username used in the passkey request form.

4. Fold at least 10 WUs, then you should start getting the bonus on WUs processed after that.

The passkey does not empathize it, but the database used for the passkey app is not otherwise connected to folding stats processing other than to provide a source of valid passkeys. The stats database does not use the username in the passkey database at all.

Edit - this will not lose any "data". You will continue to be able to look up your stats through the official pages by username. Just that the client looks up by username and passkey, so you will only see part of your stats in the client.

If you’re on v7, continue using that.

I believe v8 web control will restrict your user name characters.

@Joe_H: I have followed your advise. Folding is in progress. I will see if WU correctly reporting and maybe bonus will come too. I keep you posted.

Bonus is enabled after 10 successful WUs completed. Give the servers some time to register the progress

No problem, I'm not in a hurry. Just want things to be set correctly :mrgreen:

BTW, my WU has just reported and has correctly increased the same account data (database record I would say). Nice!
The only side-effect is that I will never be able to use the Bonus web page check (cannot match the username), but that is quite a very low side-effect :).

Let's wait now to see if Bonus issue is solved :wink:

I have checked your stats submissions, 14 WUs have been turned in since you restarted with a new passkey. Using the Recent CPUs app I can see that the latest two WUs returned still are not getting the bonus. So the problem appears to be with one or more of the non-alphanumeric characters used in your username. I am still waiting to hear back from the developer, so not sure how to proceed from here.

If I could change the username to solve this issue, I would have done it ;).
