Thanks for the link to v2.3. It worked and correctly identified the card.
The Platform version is OpenCL 1.2 CUDA 9.1.84
The Device version is OpenCL 1.1 CUDA
The OpenCL test finished 2 of the WU, but failed on the nav WU.

After seeing how fahbench was recognizing my card, OpenCL, CUDA etc, I installed the beta client convinced it would work this time.
Had to make some symbolic links in libcrypto and libopenssl, but no luck.

I'm wondering if it's time to give up on getting fahclient to recognize this card?

It's not a GPU driver issue ... it's a network issue : something is wrong with your network settings and/or adapter since it can't resolve assignment servers names to IP.

That's what I said. Apparently his network adapter is going to sleep if it works fine while he's logged in but not when he isn't.

I'm going to venture a GUESS that this is a PowerSaver setting. (The amount of power saved by turning off the modem when the OS thinks your system is idle is minuscule... plus FAH uses it whenever a WU finishes.) Then, too, is the PowerSaving setting for allowing you system to sleep set for continuous folding, even while idle?

That's my theory based on the initial log the op posted and his description of the problem even though I've been running on Linux for years and I've never run into this before. The setting is easy to find in windows but I haven't found it yet on my system. If he would clarify whether he is on ethernet or wifi it would narrow the search. Or maybe someone who is more knowledgeable about Linux will get involved.

It could be also some kind of captive portal that requires the user to stay logged in to allow access ... This is usually done from a web page, but I wonder if it could be based on system user login instead ...

All power saving settings that I can find were already turned off. I think the problem might be with networkmanager. Everytime I log back into KDE, I get a notification: "New 802-3 ethernet connection activated."
