So what are the drivers you observed to give best PPD? Do they happen to be also the most stable? I refer specifically to 980 Ti. I've got a Zotac reference model and it seems to stay by default on 1.2GHz at 80 deg C at 41% fan RPM. I moved the fan to 48% and temp decreased to 73 deg C' getting around 320k on a 9413WU, Win7 x64, 358.91 driver.

Just a quick note on here. I am running Nvidia GTX 980 Reference and Asus Strix GTX 980 Ti OC's using 352.79 driver. Only doing Core 18/21.
GTX 980 (+200 OC) Avg: 380-420k PPD
GTX 980Ti (+20 OC) Avg: 510-540k PPD
Running at 60C with fans at 75%. This is on Ubuntu 14.04.4. Tested on Windows 7/10 and was doing between 40-60k less PPD.

yup, parallel cards account 5-10 degC to the first cardsJakem8 wrote:Hi.
I've been doing some tests with 980ti's.
Currently testing on Windows 7 (However will be running on a dual-boot Ubuntu setup soon... when I get the time!). I've bought a EVGA 980Ti SC+ (no blackplate), running on 8gb ram and a i7 3770k that's running on 5 cores (noticeable ppd increase from setting aside 2 spare cores. Increased ppd.).
Averaging 470-530k ppd. I have a mild-moderate overclock on it currently, GPU clock of 1426MHz.
temps aren't bad either. I'm a low noise freak, and on my open-aired test bench I only have a couple of "case" fans. 980Ti is running at 48% fan speed, running at a pretty cool 61C but can peak up to 70 in the day-time.
Temps significantly increase when other 980Tis are added in parallel PCIE slots.
2x GTX-750 Ti : stock hsf : idle clock = 1st 39 degC ; 2nd 32 degC
auto speed fan : boost clock = 1st 62 degC ; 2nd 57 degC
with 1 slot spacing
2x GTX-970 : stock hsf : auto speed fan : boost clock = 1st 70 degC ; 2nd 62 degC
with almost 2 slots spacing (mine is DigitalAlliance/Palit)
with 1 slot spacing...the numbers go to 78 degC ; 72 degC respectively
if yours are in case, then I recommend you to watercooled GPUs, more cool, more boost clock, and more bucks spent
a very simple folder and just nice

I added a Hybrid liquid cooled GTX 980ti beside my twin fan aircooled version.. Remarkable results! Despite being on the 'inside' slot the hybrid more than 10c cooler rather than 20c hotter as the twin fan aircooled card it replaced on full on folding. Ready made hybrids are becoming more common and so are the bolt on kits.
addit on some units is more like 20c cooler than a similar W.U.

I bought a 980ti gigabyte G1 Overclock. I have it on 1300 base clock 56c not counting boost this things a beast compared to 7970s. Running win 7 points vary but currenty getting 683,000-701,000 ppd by HFM on core 21 P9712. I noticed through out the day different WU with different points.

The project 970x 's certainly give the best PPD I have seen, also the highest temps suggesting lots of work being done.
My experience with these cards is they give wildly various PPD from 390-630 but usually 500-550kppd in windows, seems to depend on how utilized the card is as the higher the PPD the higher the temps. I think that as the power of modern GPUs increase the more wildly the PPD average will be because of the QRB.
