Rolling back didn't work. Try rolling forward, as Joe suggested earlier. Upgrade the driver to v13.4 or newer. Then add the GPU Slot option: client-type with the setting: advanced and see how that works on core_17 WUs.

no, I reinstalled the 13.4 AMD CCC and was wondering if you could make heads/tails of the log.
From what I have read, the advanced flag will limit the work units I download to specific ones that are in high demand, so while I will then fold sometimes (better than now), it will sit idle a lot too. Ideally, I make it work with no special mods so it just chugs along like my crappy 9500 in my HTPC, lol

Not sure where you read that, but it is not a well informed source like this official support forum.

My 2 GPUs have never sat idle running the advanced setting.

The final choice is yours. Change the setting to advanced and run the plentiful core_17 WUs, or let the GPU sit mostly idle with the core_16 WUs that have gone End Of Life. http://folding.stanford.edu/home/core16 ... d-of-life/

OK, so I added the advanced flag. Do I need to do anything to make the GPU try for a core 17 WU? It currently says it's folding but no progress, same as always.

If the GPU is currently stuck on a core_16 WU and not making any progress, you may have to delete the work unit. Maybe not. It depends a lot on what the fah log says now that you have changed that setting.

Please post your log again.

I shut down FAH to try to get the core 16 WU to reoad as a 17 after adding advanced flag.
When I restarted it, it just said updating for hours, so I rebooted.
Then all I had was the GPU slot, my CPU disappeared, so I re-added it.
In the end, my GPU has a core 16 WU still and is not doing anything.
How do I delete the WU, not the slot, for the GPU??

Open FAHControl and note the Work Queue id for your gpu slot(click on your gpu slot under the Folding Slots pane and the highlighter will show you the id under the Work Queue pane). Open Data Directory and navigate to the work folder. Delete the directory with the same number as the Work Queue id. If the above log is current it won't be 01 as that's your cpu work directory. It's probably 00 or might be 02 but not 01.

As you can see in the log your cpu slot is using WU01 and that 01 corresponds to it's work directory. Unfortunately there's no entry in that log for your gpu that I can see but if there was it would probably be WU00 or possibly WU02(unlikely though).

The directory/folder that you need to delete is the number following WU, not the slot number(FS).

Looking at your previous log it appears to be 00 that needs to be deleted. So pause your slots (right click - Pause) ... then navigate to your work folder in Data Directory (for windows Start>All Programs>FAHClient>Data Directory>work), right click on 00 and select delete. You can then return to FAHControl, right click on the slots and select Fold.

Why not the slot?

You can get rid of the WU by deleting either the slot or the WU. It's easy to confuse the WU number with the FS number and the relationship between those two numbers is easy to get the wrong WU number. If you delete the slot, you'll always get the right one and it can be added again very easily. (I'm assuming there's only one WU of that type involved, which isn't always true.)

OK so I was out of town for a few days and just got back.

I followed Bollix's instructions an ddleeted the work unit, not slot. It then loaded a core 17WU, YEAH!!!
BUT...still not making progress...attacehd is the log:

Your log suggests you only waited 5 minutes from 0%. A P8900 might take a bit longer than that on an HD7770. Let us know if it hasn't progressed after 15-20 minutes.

What version of GPU drivers are you currently using ... still 12.10?

Personally, I'm using 13.10 beta (custom install ... drivers and Catalyst only ... everything else unchecked) and they are working well on my 7970.

I'm using the 13.4 CCC.
You were both right, I was too impatient...currently on 7+%!!
My projected PPD went from 18k to 43K
AWESOME!!

So, the core 17 wu have been rolling in and we've been folding them quite happily until last night, when for some reason a core 16wu was downloaded and my GPU didn't work on it.
Same as before, it said it was folding but no progress was being made.
No problem, as you guys showed me in a previous post how to delete a WU, so that's what I did and it DL a new WU and it was a core 17 which my GPU promptly began working on.
What I want to know is why it DL the core 16 to begin with?
