They work exactly the same in both v6 and V7, because both use the exact same fahcores. And fahcores are what processes the work units.
How to provide enough information to get helpful support

Re: Can't get 2 CPUs to process
The work load of single core running at 10% is distributed between all your CPU cores which is why it is reporting 80% across all of them as opposed to 100% on three and one at 10%. As explained earlier: When running an SMP WU the %CPU slider only affects one CPU core. It was designed to operate on uniprocessor WU's and was never updated to do an equivalent function for SMP WU's.
Re: Can't get 2 CPUs to process
That's what I did, and that's what happened! (Although I just continued running in Light.) Now, i'm back to processing on 2 CPUs. Yay! And yes, the slider works the way Bruce said.P5-133XL wrote:
I would suggest that you set the client to use two threads and run in full-mode. Then let the current WU finish and the next WU fetched should be a multi-CPU WU. If you need to adjust the CPU slider to make sure that your laptop doesn't overheat then that's fine but do not expect it to work the way think it ought to because it works more like what Bruce said.
I was barely able to get my first two projects in before timeout, but now it looks as if things will go faster on 2 CPUs.
Thanks for all the help!
