The Work Server 171.67.108.53 that provides Work Units for this class of processors is still DOWN as of the Server Status Report initiated on Wed Jan 23 08:40:14 PST 2013.

That Work Server has been hard DOWN since Sun Jan 20 12:20:11 PST 2013, and had intermittent availability going back to at least 15 Jan.

There is probably nothing wrong with the various Pentium M and Sempron CPUs clamoring for Core 78 work units - there is just not a Work Server that is providing any such work units nor any viable Core 78 projects to fold. We don't know at all from Stanford if the issue is with a sick server, or if the Core 78 scientific projects have run out, and all the new projects are coded for Core a3, a4, a5, etc.

I looked at the Project Summary page, and 230 of the 232 Core 78 Work Units that my Pent M 1.7 GHz laptop had been served (and has completed) since June 2012 were Project 6892, and it no longer appears in PSummary. Since March 2012, besides the 6892s, I had received one each of 6515 and 6516 in May/June 2012, but those projects also aren't in PSummary.

So - has all the Core 78 work been finished, and we need to shut off those CPUs from folding?
- Is there any possibility that these CPUs could do Core a4 Uniprocessor Work, if the assignment server had the right flags? I posted in a different thread here a comparison of the Pent M vs the Pent 4 HT.

We are looking into what's going on. Several FAH project/server managers have added core78 WUs, so it's not clear right now why donors aren't getting them. We're continuing to look into this.

Dr. Pande - Thanks for the update. That's very appreciated by the donor community.

FYI, something is happening with Work Server 171.67.108.53. At Wed Jan 23 14:00:11 PST 2013, the Work Server 171.67.108.53 status went from DOWN ("server is down") to Reject ("Server should be up and accepting connections, but is not"), but still no assignments. Work Server 171.67.108.53 is still showing no available work units. Quotes are from the tooltip for the Connect column in the ServerStats page.

I do see that there is at least one Core78 project still in the PSummary file (Project 2977,) but it apparently isn't getting served to the Pentium M class clients. The work server for p2977, 143.89.28.70, is also in REJECT state at this moment.

Please post the System Info and Config sections of your log as explained here.

I've removed your email address ... there's a button for that under your name. Showing your email address in a forum post can result in security and/or spam problems for you.
As you can see from my original post I'm not running a GUI, nor am I running Windows. What system info do you require, which I haven't already given you?
I have to jump through hoops as it is to paste anything here, so I'd like to keep the hoop jumping to a minimum.
(I have to paste the info into an html document, then load the html document into my browser, then copy from html document in one tab, change to tab where

Although it is still a PITA it is possible to use lynx, although you cant'
see the whole line when editing.

@cbannister:

As you can see from this post there appears to be a server problem which is being investigated. Until it's resolved we can only be patient and await a solution.

As to your reporting ability are you running FAHControl on another computer on the same network and is it monitoring your headless setup? If so, you should be able to get the logs from there. However, in light of the server problems no further info is required at this time.

That is what is puzzling to me. I can run the "a" core projects, but I seem to be caught in the "78" core stall. Is there anyway to jump over this?

Guess Not!

No, you can't bypass a server problem at the client level. You do not get to choose what server you get assigned to. The best you can do is choose within several groups (beta, advanced, or general release) and hope one of the groups has few to no core_78's. Since core_78 is all really old WU's, my guess is the newer the group (i.e. beta is better than advanced which is better than general release) the fewer Core_78's will get assigned.

Well! I just checked my old Toshiba laptop, and it was folding away after being offline for almost 12 days. The Server Status shows that the work server 171.67.108.52 went into Accept mode at Thu Jan 31 15:00:11 PST 2013, and my system picked up project:6872 run:39 clone:6 gen:393 for Core 78 at 10:16:33 PST.

I just got two Core_78 WUs from that server as well when I restarted the two uni slots on my Atom330:
Project: 6891 (Run 279, Clone 0, Gen 132)
Project: 6871 (Run 619, Clone 9, Gen 329)

Thanks for the heads-up.

Yup, this client here is folding again, too:

And, I'm actually seeing some variety. For almost the last year, I had gotten nothing but p6892s. In the last couple of days, I've processed P6896, P6888 and P6872 for my Pentium M laptop.

Indeed, I've had P6871, P6888, P6891, P6872 and P6894 so far, all netting 150-170 PPD at 2.6GHz. Given the sudden variety I wonder how long all these other projects were "parked" for?

Still no word on why we don't get core a4 work?
